Advice on Installing a flat screen TV on wall

Installing a heavy flat screen TV needs to be done properly. It must be done safety in mind. Many different types of walls are used in homes, modern house can use curtain walls where the plaster board is fixed to battens, the plaster is not secure in it self to hand a TV weighing many kilos. You need to fix the TV mounting bracket all the way through to the supporting wall, which could be block or brick. A spacer of the same dimensions as the gap and the plaster board made out of dowel rod approx 38mm width, which is centre drilled to take the fixing bolts ( a wider dowel rod is needed if the bolt has a larger diameter). As positioning of the TV is crucial to both viewing and it's appearance (level to ceiling and floor), its a good idea to make a full size cardboard replica of the TV, spray it black and mark the bolting positions as holes in the cardboard, you will need some blue tack to fix to wall. With one person holding the card, another can advise on position. Remember, you will need both a power supply and an aerial cable reaching the TV.
