KTWO Products is a small but growing Edinburgh company. We design, produce, import and sell gift stationery to the retail and consumer market largely within the UK. Because our scope is wide, our IT systems have become more complex as the company has grown. Before we started working with Grant McGregor, we literally stumbled along using the IT services of a one-man operation. It soon became apparent that this couldn't provide the daily and on-going support which our growing company needed and for some time we lurched from one IT crisis to the next wasting many man-hours in the process! What attracted us to Grant McGregor was the promise that they would provide a professional IT support service fully resourced to grow and adapt in line with KTWO. Our remit was simple; we needed a robust IT infrastructure which offered all the necessary security and backup alongside proactive advice on system development, but we were also keen to retain a local link with designated partners to manage and support us on a daily basis. We're now into our third year with Grant McGregor during which we've had an office move and a replacement server. For both of these events, we've been delighted at the professional, no hassle approach that's always evident. Everything is taken care of in a non-obtrusive, quietly efficient way leaving us to get on with what we do. They continue to fulfil their remit giving us the reassurance that our IT systems are in trusted, safe hands, and when we do have reason to contact them for help and advice, it's dealt with quickly and (thank heaven) without any technical jargon! At the outset, we agreed a pricing structure which provided for an upgrade in support and expertise, and whilst we've paid a premium for this, there are no hidden extras. Grant McGregor will always exceed expectations and deal with any query (no matter how seemingly ridiculous – and there have probably been a few in our time) in a quick and sympathetic manner giving real value-for-money. When we first contacted Grant McGregor it was to have a basic look at what we had and how we could improve certain areas. The larger project came along later. We had previously outsourced IT but were regularly left hanging around because our provider could not fit us in. We had too many amateurs attempting to provide solutions which in some cases just created more problems. Everyone was doing their own thing which also caused issues.. Since we started working with Grant McGregor last year, everyone is now much more relaxed when something goes wrong with IT as we know that it will be sorted quickly and efficiently. IT access controls and general health of the IT has improved immensely. The best aspects of Grant McGregor’s service is, firstly, their response times to our IT issues and to actually resolve them is excellent this was a real issue for us in the past. Secondly, no less important, everyone on their team has been an absolute pleasure to deal with. No one speaks in “techy” terms which makes it easier for everyone in our company to easily discuss any IT issues they may have. We moved office last year as part of our growth and they really helped with IT consultancy, advice and project management services in the lead up to and during our office move. Without a doubt, this major move went fantastically well. Everything is running smoothly and this makes a huge difference to our working day. There are no concerns on our part that anything was suggested that we did not need or require. Everything was explained fully and carried out without a fault. As part of their project management role, Grant McGregor also interfaced with the various 3rd parties involved in this move. The fact there was minimum input from us shows just how successful this move was. Whilst we know there was a lot of behind the scenes dealings with 3rd parties, we were kept in the loop sufficiently but not dragged in at every decision. We were also introduced to other sources which improved our telecoms and printing for example. And the external contacts recommended by Grant McGregor have all been very professional and resourceful. From Director-level down to technician, we’ve found that all the people at Grant McGregor keep their promises and deliver great value for money. There is no hanging around without access to our systems which means that every minute is productive for us. We would certainly recommend Grant McGregor to anyone. Mike Stoane Lighting had been with the same one-man IT provider for 15 years but our growth was not being matched by his support or his skills. However, for me there were still two big issues standing in the way of making the change to a new IT Provider; The first was fear: fear of the unknown, fear of change (is it better the devil you know?), fear of losing the personal service being with a ‘one man band' type IT provider offers and the fear of becoming ‘just another client' for a larger IT firm. It also highlighted key areas where we could make positive and essential system changes which were undeniable and much less expensive than we'd anticipated. We certainly found that Grant McGregor reassured us throughout but they also backed-up any claims they made with clear evidence and help mitigate our fears about switching – their discretion, the clear plan they provided to migrate us over, their genuine client references (all good) and a 90 day money-back guarantee that gave us the final confidence we needed. Once we made that critical decision to switch, a lot of the fear issues simply disappeared! We're now totally confident that they can handle any of our IT issues. The next positive step for us is working closely with them to plan and develop our IT systems in line with our ambitious business growth plans. If only we'd addressed this sooner! GlycoMar Limited started using Grant McGregor when we acquired another company that were using an SBS server; prior to that we had been self-supporting with 10-15 stand-alone desktop and laptop machines, a mixture of Macs and PCs, and some cloud services. Following the acquisition and transition of the server we had tried to use IT support available in our local area, but this was woefully inadequate. As a laboratory-based R&D company IT is central to everything we do so we had to look around and opted to work with Grant McGregor Ltd. This was because they demonstrated a high-level of personal service, strong commitment to us and competitive pricing - an unusual combination these days! Two of the Grant McGregor technicians came on site and within just two days had integrated all of our desktops and laptops onto the server, provided an effective backup and disaster recovery solution and resolved many historic problems. They had the flexibility to integrate all of our existing machines so that we didn't have to buy a lot of new hardware. The support they provide has enabled full integration of our office & lab applications making us more efficient and more productive. In the past we always tried to fix things ourselves, now we just call Grant McGregor, who respond promptly and fix things very quickly. As Managing Director it gives me great confidence to have a robust IT Support service in place, and removes a lot of the headaches I used to experience. All my staff has found them very pleasant to work with and we are very happy to pay for on-going remote support.
