Was Good

Had this decorator in the past and he did a good professional job but last year got a quote from him to have stairs, hall and landing papered. I was persuaded to have it lined and papered instead of papered which I was advised would be difficult to match. Told the lining would be thick enough to disguise any blemishes in the plaster. I had already removed 95% of the existing paper but had to stop because of a bad back. The lining paper was put on the first day (3 hours ) and the joints fiiled the second (couple of hours).Then another 5 part days were spent trying to get the paint to cover , which kept drying patchy. Finally the paint looked as though it had covered but because it was still damp it was difficult to tell. When it finally dried the walls looked uneven and the slightest touch on the walls and the paint was powdery and came off on my hands. I will put this down to experience but I am disappointed as previous work was an high standard. Should have thought twice when the quote was £800 and told woud take at least 7 days for a simple line and paste of hall, stairs and landing. Next time I will get several quotes and not just use someone that I expected to do a good job and had in the past.
