My late wife's wedding ring

Service

Quality

Value

At first Helliwells appeared to provide a caring service. All seemed to have gone smoothly. Then when I asked for my late wife's wedding ring I was told that the Funeral Director had given it back to me outside the church on the day of the funeral adding that he saw me giving it to a woman who put it in her handbag. He didn't return the ring either then or any other time. I've been dispossessed of a priceless sentimental object belonging to my late wife. Mr Ian Johnson the funeral director approached me on the day of the funeral at their premises before the funeral cortege left for the church service and informed me that "We have your wife's wedding ring what do you want us to do with it." He didn't have the wedding ring with him. There was a framed photograph of my wife in Helliwells possession. He didn't mention it at all. If he'd had it with him and offered it to me I would have taken it there and then. I told him to keep it and I shall collect it on another day. Why should he want to go against my expressed wished and return it to me halfway through the funeral service? Would an experienced undertaker return property belongings to the family on the day of the funeral?
