Job left in poor state
In November 21, Landscaping Contractors, High Park Landscaping Limited, Stourbridge, DY8 (James Sankey) landscaped my garden. The job was to install a patio area top and bottom of garden plus building two small brick walls. The second wall was to retain and hold the slabs at the top end of the garden as the area needed to be levelled. The job was finished but I noticed there was a cracked slab and damaged coping stone which the contractors did come back and replace within two weeks. In Jan 22 I noticed that the mortar used to build the walls had not set and had turned to a substance like sand that was crumbling and falling out of the wall in quite large amounts. I called James and he did agree to come back and take a look. He came back mid February 22 and agreed that the bottom wall needed to be rebuilt and because of the issues in taking up the top slabs he said he would repoint the wall at the top of the garden. He came back early March and re did the work. He advised he would come back the day after to clean the wall. He did turn up the day after, when it was pouring with rain, in his smart casual clothes (including smart white trainers) and spent literally 3 minutes here before he left. I would have thought he would have waited until a dry day to come back and clean the wall up. Later I noticed that the wall was in a right state with mortar smears everywhere, some bricks were in fact fully smeared with mortar and looked awful. I contacted James twice to which he ignored my messages and I never heard back from him. When I pay someone to do a job I don’t expect to have to pay another contractor to come back and clean up the work that someone else has done. For this reason, I would not recommend James or his company to do any work. It’s a shame that I have had to leave this poor review but I think Jame’s attitude in turning up in smart casual clothes on a very wet day to clean the wall shows that he never intended to clean up the job correctly in the first place. I would NOT recommend High Park Landscaping Limited.
