Horizon Steeplejacks are Contractors and Consultants specialising in Inspections and Maintenance of all types of Industrial Chimneys and Tall Structures throughout the UK and Europe.



Horizon Specialist Contracting Ltd (trading as Horizon International), was established by Graham Farn and James Burns in 1993.

James Burns the current Managing Director is the Vice President of the Steeplejack Federation A.T.L.A.S (Association of Technical Lightning & Access Specialists) and is active on many working at height committees.

Paul Farn, Operations & Safety Director, joined the company in 1994 and is an ATLAS Training Group Council Member actively encouraging and supporting the training of field engineers through the CITB Training Board.

Horizon work to British & European standards ensuring a quality service is provided by professionally trained and CSCS carded site engineers, many of which have been with the company since its inception

Site engineers

All site engineers working for Horizon are card holders for the relevant organisation of their trade, (ie steeplejacks are CSCS carded). This means they possess skills to a certain level dependant on training and experience. However whilst they receive vocational training, Horizon also deliver on-site instruction in both safety and procedures specifically tailored for the diverse sites that they work on. This enables the operatives continued advancement in knowledge and skills level.
Horizon also have facilities at both their Nottingham and Midlothian premises for skills enhancement with the latter having a chimney on site specifically for this use. (shown right).
Horizon are members of the ATLAS Training Group Association. (Formerly the Steeplejack Training Group).

Training

Horizon embrace the continual training philosophy which means that no operative remains at the same skill level indefinitely. This is achieved through both on-site and vocational training.
Vocational training is provided through various sources such as the CITB (Construction Industry Training Board) and selected independent organisations.This includes membership of the ATLAS Training Group Association. (Formerly the Steeplejack Training Group). This is done to enhance the individuals safety, quality and skill level as well as maintaining the high standard of the company.
This encompasses initiatives such as the Safety Passport Scheme, First-Aid courses and industry specific courses. These projects are normally to certificate level.For further information, please visit our website, or call on 08700 104915
