This hotel has been open for just over three years now and is due for a shake up. Built in the old Brakespears brewery, it is comprised of hotel rooms, a wine bar and restaurant. The wine-list is, as you'd expect, extensive and, as you'd probably also expect, somewhat on the high side. The restaurant has been expanded during the last year to include "bar snacks" - as the full-on restaurant experience was off-putting for casual lunchtime diners. I ate here when it opened and then regularly every couple of months since. I have now stopped eating there; The attention to quality with the food has gone drastically down-hill. Food often turns up over-cooked (read: sat under the hot-lamp for far too long), poorly presented or just plain wrong. The bar-snacks which, on the face of it, seemed like a good idea are ridiculously priced and the whole demeanor of the place has sadly slipped somewhat. They are clearly making money. It's just about time that they re-invested some of it into the restaurant - the key focal point of the establishment - and some refresher staff training.
