I have bought items from this shop over the years but I will never go there again. Very rude and aggressive staff.

Disinterested, arrogant, frustrating, infuriating. I could go on, but it's bad for my blood pressure.

There may be many up market retail outlets which I would say this is not one. As reported by Steven Sanson, on the (07-11-2011) My wife & I visited their Hastings shop which is always on sale ? We selected some Tiffany Shades but were told the Tiffany shades we ordered at the Hastings, Illumination store in Queens Road, would not be available for two weeks as they did not have the stock in the shop at the time. However they rang the Tunbridge wells shop which confirmed to them they could have the lights within Two weeks. We expressed that time was of the essence for these shades as they would be required by our electrician who was about to start a rewire job for us & it was he who would have to fit the wall light fittings. We were promised that they could deliver on time & that they would telephone us when they arrived in the shop, This did not happen & by Wednesday of the Third week we rang them only to be told they had not been ordered but the did say sorry & promised yet again to get them within another two weeks however they again failed to deliver them on time. My wife complain & was told by a member of staff this has often happened to other customers but we could speak with the manager John at the Tunbridge wells shop if we want a refund as the Hastings shop could not authorize one without his say so? My wife rang John who said it was a delivery issue but he would sort it but sadly it would take another two weeks to chase them as it would be another new order! talk about a load of rubbish he was suppose to call back the next day to confirm the order was placed this he did not do? so we rang the following day to be told he was not available to speak to so we left a message asking for the refund this message remained un- answered which was most annoying as you can imagine I finally got fed up with the situation & rang the shop in Tunbridge & demanded to speak with John who once again was out on a delivery in London & said I wanted a refund or a telephone call back within the next three hours or I would take matters further which would included the papers hearing about the shops very poor service towards it's customers. I was told he could not be reached not even by mobile this I did not believe & I told them so & demanded he call me back just before the polish girl hung up on me, which he did but only after another call from myself saying I was going to place a quarter page add out in all the local papers nearest his two shops as a warning to any future customers. I got his reply within five minutes of this last call. John said he had no idea that we had been waiting since the 3rd April for our order & wanted us to give him a chance to put things right (what again?) How many chances doe's he want? I said I would be in the shop tomorrow for the refund but he categorically said he could get the items ion order by the next week & when pressed for what day he told me Wednesday 13th June 2012. But later on that day we got a telephone call to say they had not been delivered from him but that they were still in transit & it was not his fault? (Don't promise what you cannot control John) by Thursday 14th June 1.30 pm still no news so I rang the Hastings shop saying we were coming in for the refund as we had been let done once to often but before we could get a foot out the door the phone rang guess who it was (John) to say that our items had been delivered & were at the Tunbridge wells shop & they just had to arrange to get them down to Hastings (wow ...Amazing stuff who would believe it) I told John it no longer matter as we have been messed about enough & that we have found some other lights with another supplier (the same ones John) who got my order to me in TWO DAYS JOHN NOT TWO MONTHS HOW ABOUT THAT JOHN?) by the way they were also around £60.00 cheaper than your sale price too!! But regardless of all this even though my order was worth over £200.00 he was not & even today is not prepared to give us a refund even though we have nothing to show for it & basically told us to go boil an egg but not literally but said he had the lights which we had paid for & that's all that mattered to him & on the Friday we received a telephone call to say they were now in the Hastings Shop he obviously did not have the courage to come around to my house to deliver them in person. Not to worry John My solicitor is now taking over & I shall look forward to seeing you in the small claims court & I shall be seeking damages for his cost & all my time wasted which will cost you far more, by the way that's not a threat but a promise you can bank on!unlike you I keep my word the news papers are my next step as Promised unless the refund is given over within the next (7) seven days from now. By the way my wife was right & so is Steven you are very patronising!! Let's hope you learn your lesson. Take a look at the consumer sales act 1982 it is most informative. Please feel free to call on me if you want to you have our details as I have all yours.

A Treasure Trove of Lighting

I recently stumbled across this shop while looking for a new ceiling light for my kitchen. I was greatly impressed by the selection of lights available, if anything it was almost overwhelming! I also placed an order for my light, however unlike the other reviewer I had no trouble with it or the staff, who I thought were very helpful and polite. I couldn't be happier with my new light fitting, and definitely plan to shop there again. Highly recommended.

The shop looks inviting and I was pleased to locate a light to my liking. The order was made so that it could be collected from the shop on the following weekend. When my wife went to collect the light she was treated patronisingly by the (presumed)owner of the business. No call had been made to me to say the light had not arrived from the suppliers. One week after this (two weeks after the initial order) I again went to collect the light but was told it still had not arrived, even though we had been promised a phone call. When I asked why they hadn't called I was told that they had run out of time. I asked for a refund. This was given but not without me wrongly being accussed of rudeness. Generally the shop has a poor attitude to customer service and the (again assumed) owner is arrogant and patronising.
