Portfolio maintenance

Each year I research various asset classes and sectors. I read economist reports and collate the information to produce models for which my investment advice and reviews are based. From there I research the fund market and produce short lists of the best funds. These are not necessarily those that have the highest returns, sometimes it is those who have more consistent returns, or have achieved similar returns whilst taking less risk.

Long term Care

For those entering into a care home, losing all of their wealth is a big worry. Long life in a care home and decreasing health can lead to higher nursing costs. It is always worth considering securing a lifetime income from an immediate needs annuity. If using capital to fund care will lead to a depletion of capital in a given time, then this should be balanced with the time it takes for that depletion to equal the cost of an annuity. That way you know how long you have to be in care for each alternative route to be most cost effective. Then you can make your choice as an informed choice. It's not all about leaving something after you are gone, being able to fund your own care also give you choice of the home you use. You would not want to be in stuck the care home that is going to be featured in the news.
