visited here a few times now, each time i visit edinburgh. the first thing that has set the food apart is the freshness of their fish, other sushi serving places in glasgow and edinburgh have fallen down here, and the sashimi too, here is both generous in portion and very fine, an absolute favourite. this time we visited early, just after five. Had a set menu, sashimi, miso, a main of teppanyaki served with rice and then a desert of ice cream. Great food, very attentive and polite service, the steak teppanyaki in particular was great and if you can sit at the bar in front of the teppanyaki plate when its busy as we did last time, the somewhat grumpy looking chef is very skilled.this is in my opinion the best japanese food to be found in edinburgh and better than any of the similar restaurants glasgow has to offer too. have to try the chinese menu some time as the food when you see it being served to other s looks very good, though still not able yet to get beyond the delicious japanese menu. tasty house white too!highly recommended :-)

Situated on Lothian Road, Izzi is a fantastic break from the tacky and tatty on this bus road in central Edinburgh.Specialising in Chinese and Japanese foods, there's a great range to ensure that, even if the delicately parcelled suhi is not enough for you, you will find an alternative to keep you going throughout the day. I would heartily recommend a Bento Box which is pretty much the speciality in here and provides little compartments of Japanese food. Even as a vegetarian, there was a great choice for me, and I am more than happy to revisit to enjoy again and again. This definitely provides a small bit of culture which is much needed on Lothian Road - if only there were more places like this here.

Huge menu of Japanese and Chinese food, with some dishes cooked right in front of you teppanyaki style, and various special combos for lunchtime. May not be 100% traditional in either culinary discipline, but numerous visits over more than half a decade have failed to turn up one bad experience.Occasional off-the-menu mitems are exceptional. Unusually for an oriental restaurant hereabouts, the house wines are excellent. There's a clean, modern feel to this place offset nicely by the friendly service. Varies between very quiet and exceedingly busy, but always a good place to go.
