First established in 1965 J.A.P Architects are a chartered partnership registered with the RIBA and the Architects' Registration Board.
We are based in Clare, a rural village situated in Suffolk, close to the borders Essex and Cambridgeshire.
We practice as Architects and Development Consultants undertaking projects across a broad spectrum of building; urban design, town planning and rural development. Whilst undertaking a large proportion of work in local counties, our client base extends across most of the south-east, including London, and further still with previous projects in Devon and Yorkshire.
Our clients come to us with projects ranging from bespoke home extensions, individual houses, listed buildings and residential developments to a variety of commercial ventures. We are also privileged to have been involved in education, community and leisure industry building schemes.
We undertake work on these projects through a broad scope of services that are customised to reflect individual features and constraints of the site & location together with client's aspirations and key objectives.
Following first contact, we meet with clients to discuss the basic project aims, offer initial outline advice and establish the general scope of work and involvement. This initial consultation is free of charge and we follow up with a detailed letter setting out a strategy for overcoming the main issues essential to delivering the project. We also provide a detailed schedule of services and fees at this stage.
Our philosophy is simple: A client's project brief is a problem to be solved imaginatively, cost-effectively and with care, ensuring always that the client is fully informed of the design and procurement process.
Communication is vital and it is important for us to establish a clear understanding of our client's requirements from the outset in order to provide clear, professional advice and guide the client through the various work-stages that culminate in a successfully completed project.
Buildings and developments are often complex, time consuming and expensive, but, the ultimate goals are relatively straightforward for every type of development – a successfully completed project that achieves the objectives set out in the client's brief, respects and complies with energy conservation and related legislative issues and creates an attractive, functional and pleasant place to be.
