Jans Driving School

In brief, you should know the following about us: Jan started instructing on cars and heavy vehicles in the RAF some 39 years ago. The Driving School has been established in Penrith since 1998 and has been responsible for providing outstanding driving tuition ever since. Our specialty is teaching safe driving for life. We teach Pass Plus, taxi tuition, do confidence building lessons, drive safer for longer (a scheme designed for the mature driver) and can help with theory lessons.

Casuality Reduction and Safer Highways

Jan also serves on the Cumbria 'CRASH' commitee.(Casuality Reduction And Safer Highways) which is part of the Cumbria Road Safety Partnership. The partnership is made up of members of the County Council, Constabulary, Fire & Rescue and Highways Agency and as the name signifies the goal is to cut down casualties and make our Highways safer.

Penrith area

We are based in the Penrith area and your test can be taken in Carlisle or Kendal. We recommend using Carlisle as lessons covering the City area can be done in 1.5 hours whilst it takes 2 hours to cover Kendal therefore using Carlisle makes it slightly cheaper for the student. Pass rates are similar at both Test Centres.

Theory Test

The Theory Test has to be passed before the Practical Test can be taken. This does not prevent a student taking practical lessons while studying for the theory test.

The nearest Theory Test Centre is in Carlisle

Jan's Driving School

We are currently using a KIA CEED which has a 1582cc diesel engine, dual controls and is very nice to drive.
