I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist in private practice in the Seaford area, working with adults and young people in one-to-one sessions.
As a qualified Counselling Supervisor, I also provide supervision to other counsellors.
The practice, based in Seaford, is within easy reach of Peacehaven, Newhaven, Lewes, Eastbourne, Rottingdean, Saltdean, Alfriston and surrounding villages and only a short distance from Brighton and its Universities.
In my practice, I work with people who may be facing a wide range of issues and difficulties that they feel are preventing them from getting on with their lives.
Some may be feeling low or depressed, or anxious about things they previously took in their stride. Others may be finding the stress of work, school, or family life difficult to cope with.
Perhaps they are experiencing problems in their relationships with friends, partners or relatives, or feeling lonely, isolated and low on self-esteem.
Changes in their lives may have left them feeling confused, helpless, or angry without really knowing why. They may feel lost, frightened, or 'out of control' following the ending of some stage of their life or the beginning of a new one.
For many, these feelings can be quite overwhelming at times: "I don't know what's happened to me" , "I never used to be like this" , "It's not like me" , "I should be able to cope with this" , "I don't know why I do these things, think these things, feel these things..."
Counselling allows them the opportunity to talk through their feelings, to be listened to, and to find their way out and on to a fuller, more balanced and enjoyable life.
People enter into counselling or therapy for many different reasons. Most of us experience times when we find it difficult to deal with some development in, or part of, our lives. Many of us would like to function better in some way, or feel better about ourselves, our lives, and our relationships.
Through the process of counselling or therapy, the client learns more about how he or she thinks, feels and behaves and this often leads to feeling more balanced and in control of life.
