Jonathan English Associates are an independent Chartered Surveying practice based in Nottingham and Derby. We are specialist Chartered Building Surveyors and
focus our business in this key skill area. Our coverage includes the Midlands and the vast majority of the United Kingdom.

About Us

Our experience spans over twenty years within the Property and Construction industries. Subsequently, we are able to offer an experienced, competant and professional service. Our clients encompass all areas from private individuals, the business and public sector through to consultancies. The vast majority of our instructions arise from repeat business or recommendations. We also have a "5 tick rating" and impartial references to view on-line within the Derbyshire County Council Trusted Trader website, under the profession of Surveyor. In addition we also have impartial references with Which On-line.

Residential Surveys

Suitable for both Buyers and Vendors, our Residential Building Surveys are only compiled by Chartered Building Surveyors (MRICS). These can used prior to making a decision to proceed with a purchase or as health check before marketing a home for sale.

A Building Survey (sometimes known as a Structural Survey) is a far more thorough and detailed report than the standard template of a Condition or Home Buyer Report. They apply further detail in the diagnosis, repair and management of existing and potential building defects. They include a report summary, identify areas of concern and review the building elements all with referenced colour photographs. Typically, we spend from two hours inspecting a property and produce a comprehensive report from 40 pages in length. Upon completion our reports are e-mailed to clients and professionally bound printed copies are also avaliable.

Our Building Surveys are competitively priced and can include additional services such as repair costings, maintenance advice, insurance reinstatement valuations and the project management of any necessary repair works. We can also provide a four section survey inclusive of a Residential Building Survey, Gas, Electrical and Valuation reports all completed by qualified professionals.

Commercial Surveys

Our Commercial Building Surveys provide an assessment of the construction and condition of a building prior to completing a purchase or at the outset of a leasehold. These reports include an executive summary, a summary of repairs and a review of the building elements with supporting photographs. These are compiled in accordance with RICS Guidance Notes.

Project Management

Our Project Management services can take your brief from concept to site completion. We undertake projects inclusive of new build, refurbishment, conversion, repair and maintenance building works in all sectors. For example

New build projects:
From new homes to agricultural buildings we carry out site appraisals, design and specification of materials, assist in securing statutory approvals, select contractors and manage the works until completion.

Refurbishment projects:
We design, specify and manage the refurbishment of homes, offices, industrial, agricultural and retail buildings. To help refresh, update and prolong the lifespan of tired buildings.

Conversion projects:
We manage the conversion of existing buildings in to homes or for business purposes at agricultural, residential or urban sites.

Repair and maintenance projects:
We design, procure and manage repair and maintenance projects for large industrial sites, property portfolios or to meet statutory requirements.

Being a member (MRICS) and regulated by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) we adhere to a strict code of professional conduct and specialise in the following areas: Residential and Commercial Building Surveys, Project management of new build, refurbishment, conversion, repair and maintenance works. Acting as CDM Co-ordinator under Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007.
