Traditionally most Business negotiations are competitive, differing viewpoints leading to a manipulation of power and lack of trust. Karrass strongly promotes the concept of "Both - Win" negotiation.

As well as an Engineering Degree, and a Masters in Business Administration, he accumulated twenty-five years on-the-job experience with major organisations. This was followed by three years conducting advanced research and experimentation in negotiating techniques, culminating in a Doctorate.
