Katherine's teaching is inspirational. She encourages the artist in everyone. Having previously worked for Doncaster Art College, she has an educational approach to learning to paint and draw. She encourages beginners and advanced artists to explore every media and find out what works best for them as individuals. She encourages new artists so they soon increase in confidence and more experienced artists often feel refreshed and re-inspired.
Katherine runs a mixed ability Art Class on Monday evenings in Scawthorpe, Doncaster. She teaches Life Drawing Classes at Brevon Art in Doncaster.
She offers private art tuition, painting demonstrations and art workshops and will travel with her work.
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with Katherine's Gallery. The workshops were friendly and fun and I was instantly put at ease. In a relaxed atmosphere I was encouraged as a beginner and did some drawing and painting that I was really pleased with.

I joined Katherine Milns' Life Drawing Class as a complete beginner in August 2009. I've been every week that I've been able to ever since. I'd finally decided to start drawing and painting in May of that year. As I said, I was a complete beginner but I did know that skills of looking and drawing are best learned in life class. So, in fear and trepidation, I turned up not sure of what to expect. Katherine was great. She put us four beginners at our ease and then straight away got us drawing before the nerves took over. What an encourager – I look back at those early drawings with embarrassment but Katherine was always positive, always encouraging and always ready with gentle but firm guidance. Since those early days I've been encouraged to try drawing with many mediums, pastel, pen and oil sketching are some of them. When I was having trouble with oil pastels I booked some one-to-one tuition with Katherine. This was great. I had intensive sessions on both the particular techniques of oil pastel and their application in a drawing which gave me the confidence to carry on with them. Soon after, I decided to apply to University to study Art. I looked to Katherine for advice and guidance. Through a series of one-to-one tutorials she supported me in selecting, developing and assembling work for my portfolio. Her help and encouragement through these tutorials and at life class was pivotal to my success. I'm now studying part-time at University Campus Barnsley, a part of University of Huddersfield, on an Art and Design B.A. honours course. It's brilliant. And I still go to Life Drawing classes every week. I see them as fundamental to the rest of my art development. I still very much value the encouragement and guidance which Katherine gives. The classes are still a mix of beginners and more experienced artists. They are relaxed but intense at the same time, a challenge but always supported, with good teaching, much to learn and a really pleasant welcoming atmosphere.
