We were in Nottingham for a wedding at nearby Thrumpton Hall and so stayed at Hillside Cottage. It was perfect. Karen picked us up and dropped us off at the East Midlands Parkway rail station (which is only 1 mile away which is super convenient for those coming by rail from London). Our room was spacious and very obviously recently renovated and extremely clean. The bathroom and shower in our room were en suite and immaculately clean and modern. Our friends drove us to the ceremony at a nearby church and then to Thrumpton Hall and then Karen picked us all up at the end of the night from Thrumpton Hall for just 5 GBP per room, which is far cheaper than a cab ever would have been. She also provided us with a great breakfast with homemade jams! Finally she went out of her way to help me return a morning suit I had hired from Moss Brothers as I needed to return it but we had an early flight back to the US from Heathrow. Oh and I should mention she takes credit cards which is a huge convenience especially in the countryside where the nearest ATM is probably pretty darned far away.
