Illegal car sold!

I bought a 04 plate Range Rover which I was assured was serviced, everything functioning and in good order. I found out immediately that there were a few issues so 10 days after purchase booked the car into the Basingstoke Range Rover main dealer. The list of faults is long, but includes illegal brakes and illegal tyres. Bill, £2600 to fix what has been found so far. So, my advice would be, avoid Kempshott Cars unless you have very deep pockets! Contacted the dealer for comment but was totally ignored. Deal with these people at your own risk!!!! I will never deal with anyone other than a main dealer again. Lesson learnt. An expensive one!

I recently part exchanged my car for a 4x4 and found Kempshott cars to be very polite and efficient . I needed to get my private plate swapped over to the new car ( which can sometimes be a pain ) and it was done extremely quickly and without any fuss. I found Chris the owner to be very honest and straight forward. I love my new car and wouldn't hesitate to buy another vehicle from them.

I just purchased a 2005 Discovery 3 from Chris at Kempshott Cars. After having the car checked by MViUK an independent vehicle inspection company (Who I will not be using again) MViUK gave the vehicle the all clear. However after purchasing the vehicle and driving off there was a problem with the automatic gearbox, so I took back to Chris who to his credit dealt with the problem straight away, phoned mechanic on speaker phone so I could listen, arranged to be fixed, lent me another car, returned Discovery to my house, showed me the receipts for work and collected loan car. Also had fresh MOT put on for me and had advisories fixed at no cost to me. Chris has also dealt with my private number plate exchange. The car was also a good price as are all of his compared to other garages; he owns the site and has believe has been selling there for a number of years so you know he's not going anywhere. Yes he is a “Used cars salesman” with the talk that goes with the job but has resolved all problems. I would not hesitate to buy anther vehicle from him or recommend him to anyone.

Buyer Beware @ Kempshott Cars

Service

Kempshott Cars of Basingstoke If you visit Kempshott Cars then it is definitely a case of buyer beware. Chris does like the sound of his own voice a lot and when you cut through the needless blah. His message is trust me as I am a trustworthy car dealer. Unfortunately actions speak loader than words and his actions to date have been to ignore me & the small issues that I brought to his attention. He has his money and it not interested in offering any kind of after sales service I will not be replying on his warranty.

We bought a nearly 3yr old Freelander recently from Chris at Kempshott Cars 89 in Basingstoke. I asked for it to be MOT'd, Taxed and Main Dealer Serviced, which he promptly sorted even without a deposit. And the car was released to us before the cheque was cleared. Chris is obviously a used car salesman with a strong line in patter and b*llsh*t, but his trusting approach is unusual in this business and the car is absolutely fantastic, at a very good price. Not sure he'd have been so good if there was a problem later on, but take as you find and we found him to be as good as his word. Just wish their toilets were working though!

Dishonest, Dodgy Dealers

I purchased a Landrover Discovery from this company just before xmas. Almost immediately I picked up a fault envolving a 'misfire' in the engine, whilst I was on my way home. I live in Derbyshire, nearly 200 miles away. The matter was brought to the attention of 'Chris', at the company who advised us to take the car to our nearest Landrover dealer in order to remedy the problem and he would in turn sort out the payment.(normally the car would have been returned to Kempshott but for the fact that we live 200 miles away). A bill of nearly £700 was paid by my husband in the good faith that we would be reimbursed by Kempshott cars. Wrong! Their 'warrenty's are not worth the paper that they are written on. Be aware!
