Hello My name is Kerry and I would like to introduce myself and the service that is available to you.I qualified in July 1996, passing the Advanced Diploma in Counselling & Groupwork.I did not immediately go into counselling after I qualified, as I felt I needed to enhance my life skills and experiences to be able to fully support the knowledge of the counselling.I have a wide and varied background which includes,The Foyer, working with young people who are homeless.Cranstoun drug agency, adults with alcohol and substance misuse issues, Connexions, young people who are dis engaging from education. Operation Born, working alongside police tackiling anti social behaviour. Portsmouth city council, working in schools developing & delivering courses on self-esteem,confidence,peer mentoring,bullying,independent living skills.I was recently made redundant from PCC and have had to deal with many issues that this has thrown at me. I have decided that it is now time to put my skills and experiencing into good use.I understand how counselling can be really scary for people, but I firmly believe that counselling is a way of enabling choice or change or of reducing confusion. It does not involve giving advice or directing you to take a particular course of action.
