It depends what shows you see. Blood Brothers is coming to this theatre in a few months time from the West End. They tend to have roughly three West End touring productions a year. Staff are very polite and friendly and prices are very reasonable. They also have other professional shows for those who are not fans of musicals, such as opera (for example Gilbert and Sullivan's Mikado about 12 months ago), comedy (Jimmy Carr and Ken Dodd both perform regularly and Jim Davidson came down in 2009 or 2010), they even change their stage into an ice rink for shows like Peter Pan on ice which they have on this winter. Some of the shows are amateur, but nowadays they tend to be outnumbered by the pros. If you're interested in the theatre, you can even go on tours, which are held regularly. You can learn about the history - it is one of few designed by Frank Matcham (I believe it is one of five left in the country).

Great old theatre with lots of character. It's great to support somewhere like this. There are sweet pantos which children love for christmas. Although the shows may not be london quality, it is a local theatre with lots of heart and deserves good support and funding.
