Home - KM Health and Safety

KM Health & Safety Consultants have 10 years Health & Safety experience. We are based in Manchester, ideal for Nationwide service, and offer a fully bespoke Health & Safety service to all industry sectors, tailored to suit the individual needs of your business.

Policy and Procedures

This refers to the health and safety arrangements within your business, for instance; the effective planning / organisation / control / implementation / monitoring / auditing / reviewing of the protective and preventative measures you have in place.

Health and Safety Policy and Procedures to implement your Policy are required under the Health and Safety At Work Etc Act 1974, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and the Construction Design and Management Regulations 2007. If your business has 5 or more employees these arrangements must be recorded in full. If there are less than 5 employees, you will still need to show that these arrangements are in place and written policies are best practice.

When all of your Health & Safety issues have been dealt with and everything has been brought up-to-date, you will have a suitable and sufficient Health & Safety Management System. This will mean that you are fulfilling your legal obligation under health and safety law, and provided that relevant reviews and updates are undertaken on your system at regular scheduled intervals, both you and your company can rest assured that all of your legal requirements under current Health & Safety legislation are being met.

Done correctly, this structure is very useful in setting a clear direction for your Company to follow. It is also will benefit your business expenditure as in the reduction of accidents / incidents, the number of days lost and reduced insurance premiums, as well as potentially saving you the time and expense of unwanted legal attention. The benefit to your employees is a healthier and safer workplace. For Companies with the correct documentation in place, the ability to prove your competence in this field to prospective customers, whether industrial, commercial, corporate or domestic, can be invaluable and lead to new business.

We will produce your Health and Safety Policy documentation, Method Statements and Safe Working Procedures to the highest standard. All documentation is fully bespoke to suit the individual requirements of your business. We also offer training for your Managers and Staff in what is required of them.

Accident Investigation

Thorough and vigorous investigation is essential for ensuring accidents and dangerous occurrances are not repeated, and that all lessons are learned. Properly conducted, meticulous investigations will benefit your business expenditure as in the reduction of accidents / incidents, the number of days lost and reduced insurance premiums, as well as potentially saving you the time and expense of unwanted legal attention. The benefit to your employees is a healthier and safer workplace.

Reactive mornitoring of your work systems such as robust systems for accident and near miss investigation are an integral part of any successful Health and Safety Management System, for example HSG65 Successful Health and Safety Management (Health and safety guidance published by the Health and Safety Executive) and OHSAS 18001.

When things go wrong, you need someone you can rely upon to ensure there is no repeat and to help prevent exaggerated insurance claims. We provide a comprehensive, thorough investigation into any accident or near miss. We will produce a detailed report, and action plan to ensure the necessary steps are taken to prevent a recurrance. We also offer follow up management and staff training.

This type of pro-active monitoring will benefit your business expenditure as in the reduction of accidents / incidents, the number of days lost and reduced insurance premiums, as well as potentially saving you the time and expense of unwanted legal attention. All organisations with 5 or more employees and above must keep a written record of the significant findings of their risk assessments, It is generally advised that organisations with fewer than 5 employees keep a written record their findings as well.
