This Italian restaurant is located below Bargate on the busy High Street. It serves the usual Italian dishes - salads, pizza, pasta and lots of nibble-type dishes to share.Fresh fish is on the special menu and dishes such as veal cutlets and calves liver can be found on the main menu. I had pizza, and was expecting it to be far tastier than it was - quite bland and overcooked. I needed a steak knife to hack through the base.I came as part of a group and even though we had prebooked, our table was not ready on arrival and service was particularly slow and not overtly friendly. I think it caters for the 'in crowd' as one Southampton player was spotted dining. The restaurant is airy (think very tall ceilings) and open plan. If you like people watching, this is the place for you... but if you'd prefer a more romantic, intimate setting, I'd go elsewhere. It gets very busy and they cram all the tables and chairs in so that a trip to the toilet takes on Mission Impossible status. There are definitely better Italian restaurants in Southampton.

Dreadful
Saturday 8th December 2007.Worst place I've ever dined at. The ambience is a cross between Fawlty Towers and a School Canteen. We were a group of 16 booked in for a Christmas Meal. The Staff had no Christmas Cheer and were aggressive. Unless you are a party of all girls don't expect any service. We had pre-booked a 3-course meal but the table was not properly laid. In between course cutlery was thrown at us with the waiters shouting "Here". The food was very salty and either sloppy (roast potatoes) or rock hard (vegetables). We will not be dining or recommending this dive.
