The Rose 'n' Bowl in Stacksteads is my local. Not only for a pint, a bar snack, live music, live football on the big screen, or even for it's famous carvery, but also for it's crown green bowling which i am proud to be a member of. On a sunny day outside in the beer garden, there is nothing better than sitting out with it's peaceful location and scenic views, than scoffing a sandwich, drinking a cool pint whilst watching some bowling (or even better, by playing some bowls yourself), as unlike most, it is a public green, so as long as there is no competitiion on, you can turn up and play. It caters for young and old alike with bingo nights and live band nights, which is why it doesn't quite get 5 stars. A theme pub it is not! That is to say it would be wise to find out what is going on at the pub before you turn up or it may not be your cup of tea. Well worth a visit from all age groups.

Great value for money, friendly, helpful staff, very accomodating AND most importantly--EXCELLENT food. The whole family have enjoyed meals here for years
