Terrible Service!

I booked to have a garage door locking mechanism replaced and was quoted between £70 and £80. I was advised by the locksmith he would be at the garage for 10:10, however as I arrived at the garage he then informed me he wouldn't be with me until 11:00. He finally arrived at 11:40. On trying the lock he decided to drill the lock out, but once he had done this he returned to his van and realised he didn't have the replacement the lock in his van. He drove away leaving me stuck at my unlocked garage and returned nearly two hours later with the lock. After all this was replaced he then told me the price would be £168 more than double the initial quote. After sitting in the sun for over 4 hours waiting for the job to be finished I questioned the price and decided to call the office on Monday and question this further. To summarise I was charged £70 for a locking mechanism that costs £14.99 and £70 in labour. I contacted the number on the website and was spoken to very rudely and eventually was told I would receive a call back regarding my query and the phone was put down. The call was made on Monday, I'm still awaiting a return of call on Thursday. In my opinion not the best of service, or the most reasonable of price especially as I was quoted a price and then charged more than double.

Rough Trader and a Con company

Rough Trader and a Con company. The company website clearly said, the cost of the unlocking and replacing the lock was £78, including VAT and when I spoke to the staff they gave me the same price. But they charged us £154, which was double the rate that was originally agreed. So I called their office, when I told the staff that I will expose them via Internet reviews, he swore at me using abusive languages. For your own Good, just stay away from this Rough Trader. Very likely they operate in lot of dodgy names. So be very cautious.

Used these guys after being burgled on a Saturday night, we came home to a terrible mess and needed all our locks changed, they were at my house in under an hour and were tidy and efficient and very reasonably priced for the time of night, we will be keeping these guys number for my property rental company. Thanks again

Called these people as my mum was locked out in Kingston, they were there in twenty minutes and looked very professional in how they carried out there work, within 5 minutes they were in the house and we had no need to change the locks, as we had to when my mum last did it, reasonable price for 8.30 a night too, thank you on behalf of me and my mum, Margery

After having my handbag stolen in Clapham last night my local police station gave me Low Costs phone number this morning, I called them and they had Mark out within the hour of my call. Minimum of fuss and only an extra £20 to have them changed on a Sunday, worth it for the peace of mind. Thanks alot Sam

I called them on Jan 30th at 9.30am to come and deal with my door on Battersea Park Road. I told them that the door was jamming and that the tenants were struggling to open and close it. They sent a locksmith (Glen) around to fix it an hour or so later. One of the tenants was in the flat. Glen removed the face plate from the chubb lock, redirected the screws inward through the wood, tightened up the yale lock and left. I received a call from the tenants that evening telling me that when they got home from work, they attempted to lock the door by using the chubb and only managed to turn the key half way in the lock. It got stuck- they couldn't turn it either way and couldn't remove the key. They were locked in. This had never happened before Lowcosting Locksmiths had visited. I called Lowcosting Locksmiths and told them about the problem as soon as I heard (approx 9pm the same day). They said they would call the tenant and see if he could talk them through how to open it before sending someone out. They did call the tenant, they couldn't talk them through how to open it, and they told him that they couldn't get anyone there until 7.30am. This was too late- one of my tenants had to leave for work at 6am and regardless of that, I was not prepared to leave three tenants in the house all night with no escape route should a fire break out. Lowcosting Locksmiths didn't seem concerned about this in the slightest. I called them back and asked them to send someone out this evening; to which he (the owner?) replied "My locksmith hasn't touched the chubb" "Your tenant didn't seem too concerned about us getting there at 7.30am" "Nothing we did to that door has caused this to happen" "Your tenant is lying to you, my guy hasn't touched that chubb" before hanging up the phone on me. I then received a text on my mobile from Glen, the locksmith himself asking me to text him back and tell him what had happened. I called him and explained the situation. He replied with "So- you're telling me that they can't turn the key, how did they turn it half way then?" He agreed that he had removed the faceplate from the chubb lock and redirected the nails into the door. (Contrary to what his boss told me) He told me he had done what my tenant had asked and told me that it would have done no good to the door as the door needed changing (none of which he had relayed to my tenant that morning- he had given him the impression that the door was fit for purpose) I was left with no choice but to call another locksmith who was with us in 30 minutes and managed to unlock the door. He was astounded that the locksmith who had visited that morning hadn't sanded the door down (which was required to stop it jamming; my initial reason for calling locksmith) and was also baffled at the fact that they wouldn't come out to fix their mistake when it was so clearly the cause of the tenants being locked in. I received three texts from Glen that evening; telling me that he did what my tenant had asked him to do (rather than what he knew was required) and to stop "guessing what you're talking about" " i wasn't going to sand down the door free of charge" (free of charge?) "we are the biggest locksmith company in London" " I will leave you to your drink" (???) "I removed the face plate on the bottom lock, which doesn't affect anything whatsoever, only appearance" (why did you remove it then?) Never again!
