MagiKats is a UK programme written and taught by UK teachers

As the National Curriculum changes, MagiKats follows! We cover core skills of maths and English - the essentials such as tables, directed numbers, spellings, grammar - as well as applied topics (e.g. free writing, poetry, multi-step maths problems, geometry) so all our students get the best possible chance to become confident and succeed with their maths and English at school. We also offer SATs, entrance exam and GCSE revision courses, special summer booster programmes and add-ons such as verbal and non-verbal reasoning.

Fun workshop environment

Students attend workshops once a week, for 40 minutes per subject. Students work in small groups (maximum of six per group), with each group taught by a tutor. Written sheets are broken up with hands-on activities and extra skills practice such as spellings, tables tests, reading fluency etc. Students earn stamps for their efforts and stamps can be exchanged for prizes, which they love (yes, even the teenagers)!

Steady, sensible, flexible homework

The MagiKats homework is designed to help students practice and polish their core skills. Students usually receive five sheets of homework per subject per week; parents receive answer sheets to help with marking! Each week's work covers a variety of topics, but each sheet should take no longer than 10 minutes (longer on comprehension and writing tasks). However, as no two households or families are alike, this is flexible.

Passionate about education

I have a love of education and believe that the confidence, discipline, study-skills and curriculum skills that MagiKats offers can play a key part in students' success at school and, we hope, later into life.

Communication is key

I am always open to discussing my students' current progress with their parents, as well as upcoming topics and any other concerns or targets. One of my favourite aspects of MagiKats is that I get to know children as they grow up, often over many years. This puts me in a unique position to support those students in the way that best suits them, helping them be involved and engaged in their studies.
