The first side of MagiKats is the workshops: students attend once a week for either one or both subjects, for 40 and 80 minutes respectively. They work in small groups (maximum of 6 per group) of similar ages, working on curriculum topics with the help of a tutor. If they find a topic easy then they can progress to the harder questions, if they find it hard they can take more time to be shown and understand it better. Workshop sessions are broken up with hands-on activities, and students earn stamps for their work and use these to buy prizes.

The second part of MagiKats is the homework. This covers topics that need practicing but not teaching, to build confidence and make sure that the core skills are fluent to support the workshop topics. Students typically have 5 sheets per week per subject, around 5-15 minutes per sheet with some variety through the week. New students are often in need of extra help and support, but the aim for all my students is for them to move beyond their school level, in time. This way they can approach new topics with us before they see them in school and can ask all the questions they need to!
