The basics before your start

You will need a decent size deposit as a buy to let investor – many loans are based on a deposit of more than 25%
Research the current buy to let mortgage products available (reported that Natwest have a 3.49% 2 year fixed rate based on 60% LTV)
Work out what you can afford when considering the purchase price, monthly mortgage payments, other associated costs and tax
Investigate different locations which may offer better value for money and may produce a higher yield
Write down a financial plan which shows how your well your proposed investment will perform
