Do you want to pass your driving test as quickly and easily as possible? After working in the public sector for 10 years, Matt has now been a driving instructor for 6 years, and has worked for both a local and national company. As of the start of June 2007, Matt has focused solely on Matt Shurmer School Of Motoring. The car used is a Toyota Aygo (1.0) on an 09 number plate.

When i first started lessons i had matt he was very patient and a very good instrutor helped me a lot in my lessons and gave me confidence. Started out with Matt when I first started my lessons. Matt is a great guy, easy to get along with, calming and a fantastic instructor. A few weeks into my lessons Matt had to stop instructing me for personal reasons and passed me over to Tracey. Tracey is a brilliant instructor, she was helpful, friendly, honest and a genuinely lovely lady. She was encouraging and supportive every step of the way and in the end I passed first time! Tracey- Miracle worker!

I really enjoyed lessons with Matt, he was easy to get along with and made everything easy to learn. The lessons were flexible, he made sure that they'd fit around my school work and extra activities. Not only has he helped me to pass my test but he has also prepared me for driving in the future. Matt is a very patient and friendly instructor. Every lesson I learnt more and more which gave me the confidence to be able to drive in a very short amount of time. The way in which he taught, was very easy to understand and he brought an easy way to learning everything. I started lessons with Tracey after a very stressful experience with another instructor. Tracey is friendly, sincere and somebody with whom you do not feel embarrassed at all! Tracey's technique builds up confidence in no time. She explains things in such a way that you immediately understand, but most importantly she goes with you repeating the main points as you are practicing which made a good drill to master skills. As a result I passed the FIRST TIME! I am going to miss her lessons!

Passed 1st time!
I had Tracey as my driving instructor and she has always been very patient and friendly. She often gives some driving tips on the road which I found them extremely helpful!!! I also find her techniques for the manoeuvres really easy to understand. I think her car is really nice and passed 1st time with a perfect manoeuvre says it all. 5 stars. Thank you Tracey.

Amazing instructor
Learning with Matt was amazing, the best instructor I had. He got me over my nerves, and helped me gain some confidence. He was so patient and understanding, and you just couldnt ask for a better instructor. After two tests being cancelled due to snow, Matt kept my motivation going. He's just in general a really great guy and I couldnt thank him more for getting me to pass. Thanks so much Matt !

miracle man matt
When I started off driving, I was nervous just getting behind the wheel and could barely start the car without making a mistake somewhere, but after a few lessons with Matt, that all changed and I was thoroughly enjoying it!!! The nervousness stuck around right up until I finished my test however and the examiner said I passed first time. That's what Matt has done for me. He has taught me much in very little time and now I'm a confident driver out on the road by myself after passing the first time around. As far as instructors go, I could not have asked for a more understand, more patient, or a more outstanding bloke. 5 Stars is an easy choice to make when all this is taken into consideration. Passed first time with Matt
Nothing I can really say apart from Matt act more as a friend than a normal teacher would. he guides you calmly through each stage of your driving, even when I broke me ankle towards the first test date (which then got cancelled) He brought me back into driving calmly and not throwing me into heavy things. Tracey is seriously an awesome instructor!She's not judgmental and rude but calm and nice to be around. Even though I did soooo many stupid things which had no LOGIC(something I lack insanely) she didn't rub it in and make me fill like a total dumbass instead she tried to make me understand over and over and over and over again lol! The techniques she teaches us for the manoeuvres are really good and simply to understand.....If she made ME pass she can make anyone pass! To summaries she's awesome and I would definitely recommend her! Thanks sooo much!!! :D

Excellent instructor !
I am so pleased that i found Matt, He helped me so much. I struggled for three years trying to pass my test and after two days of driving with him, he managed to give me back my confidence that i needed to get through my test. I only had Matt as a instructor for a short period of time as i passed the first test he put me in for." Which we all aiming for at the end of the day." So Matt is definatley highly reccommened. Tracey Wilson- the best instructor you could find
I never thought i'd pass the first time, but Tracey gave me the confidence and techniques needed to do it. She is so patient, yet never fails to constantly remind you you're going over the speed limit! Passed 1st time with Tracy
I first started learning with Tracy in the later stages of preparing for my test as my previous instructor fell ill. She was brilliant at fitting in a lot of instruction in a short space of time, as I had already booked my test. All of her instructions and techniques for my manoeuvres were very clear and were alot easier to pick up than my previous instructor. All in all, she made it very easy for me to pass 1st time and was very helpful and friendly throughout. 10 out 0f 10!

Matt is an amazing teacher, you will always feel like you are his number 1 priority. Because of Matt I picked up the basics quickly which allowed us to focus on the test for the majority of the time and by the time it came to the test I knew the routes, possible questions and manoeuvres. I could not have been better prepared. Recommended by a friend who also passed first time, its not just the test you feel prepared for, the general confidence you gain on the road will stay with you when you get out on your own. Matt is a lovely instructor; he is very patient and made learning to drive fun. The good thing about Matt's teaching technique is that you are very much 'learning behind the wheel'. I drove on my first lesson and every lesson since, which means you get lots of solid practise up to your exam. He went though everything required for the driving exam and anwering any questions about the driving theory. He has even produced packs of materials from the very first "getting moving" to "driving test" - some of these, particularly the ones about manouvers are useful for printing out and taking with you in the car as a memory aid when practising. These are provided free of charge as an extra. Matt has also started providing theory CDs. Matt also took me through all the 'show me, tell me' questions for the exam in good time. (I've got a friend who learnt with a different instructor who had a hasty 5 minute discussion about these on the day of her exam.) Matt is flexible to changing lesson times, given reasonable notice and was willing to fit in with my free periods at school. Furthermore, when my practical test was cancelled due to 'unforseen circumstances', it was moved to a day when Matt was supposed to be on holiday. He held back his family holiday plans so that I could still sit the exam on that day in his car. I passed my driving test first time with 6 minors after learning with Matt for 2 terms. I've already recommended Matt to a friend and she has since started to learn to drive with him. I'm going to miss learning to drive with Matt.

Great Instructor
Matt is a brilliant teacher, i am now a very confident driver mainly due to him, he made sure i understood everything and was confident with everything i had learnt before moving on, quite simply i don't have a bad word to say about him or his teaching methods. My brother, who had previous problems with a different instructor had reccomended Matt to me and im glad he did! Great teacher, very calming and a amazing confidence booster. Amazing teacher, amazing results
As an eager driver but lazy person my sister found Matt's School of Motoring on the internet as she herself had a difficult time with her instructor she knew most of all how important it was to get along with your instructor. She struck gold with Matt as he's honestly the best kind of teacher, encouraging when you need it, harsh when you deserve it and rewarding when you really do improve and do something well. I passed third time, but i know it could've taken me 100 times if I didn't have Matt as an instructor! He's so easy to get on with and really flexible with lesson times too. 100% recommendation

Friendly and Good Teacher
Matt was recommended to me by my brother, who passed his test first time a couple of years ago. I passed second time (I made a silly mistake - not Matt's fault!) with only 4 minors and felt fully prepared for the test both times. Matt makes learning to drive simple - he's calm, his instructions are clear, and gently guides you when you're more experienced. He's also flexible when it comes to fitting lessons around your schedule. I guess the best praise I can give is that I recommended him to my girlfriend, who's now enjoying learning to drive with him...

A dedicated and master instructor
As a friend and neighbour to us for a long time, it was only natural for me to choose matt as my driving instructor , and I enjoyed every lesson with him. His calm and considered approach to driving helped me get past my early anxiety i'm sure every new driver suffers upon first stepping beehind the wheel of a car, and his clear, logical instructions he would give, along with reassuring comments that became like catchphrases (don't let that clutch push you, healthy sound!) helped make every manouver and journey calm and productive. Even when I drive on my own now I can still hear matt's reasuring voice in my ear! Surely the best driving instructor and one of the best teachers i have ever had, and I would highly recommend him to everyone

I started learning to drive at the end of August last year. My first instructor done nothing for my self confidence. He'd often say things like, your holding up the traffic, or would pressure me to nip out of junctions, which at 5 lessons I wasn't able to do, well I could but not as quickly as he wanted. Although I was learning to drive, I wasn't enjoying it and to be honest if you're going to put yourself though this then you've got to get something out of it! I decided that I'd look for another instructor and that's when I found Matt on this very website, in November last year he became my instructor. I can not begin to describe to you the difference, he explained things to me so I understood why and what I was doing, he was supportive, thoughtful, considerate of me and my commitments fitting in lessons around my day. He even taught me in my car as I couldn't get the hang of his, he would test me and teach me The Highway Code explaining if need be. He used toy cars to demonstrate what he wanted me to do or what I'd done wrong, and it worked because, yesterday the 11th February 2010 I passed my test, first time. I cannot thank him enough. If you are looking for an instructor, look no further, Matt's your man.

Like any one who has their first lesson i was excited yet nervous to get behind the wheel of a car. I began driving with Matt after a 4 year break from learning to drive. I had no problems with my previous instructor, but felt I needed a new start. Matt is an excellent instructor and a lovely bloke, he's very calm and patient, and makes you feel very relaxed when you're driving. I found his method of teaching worked really well for me - his lessons are nice and structured so you have a short term goal for every lesson - great when that test seems so far away (because it actually comes up pretty quick!). Having never gotten my head round manoevres before, with Matt's method of teaching I'm now 100 times better at them. When I passed my test it may have been my third attempt, but it was my first one with Matt. Cant recommend him highly enough. Thanks very much!

a one day intensive
I had previously taken a driving test, knew all the basics and wanted to get back into driving after a years break. Matt was great – very patient and supportive. I would highly recommend him. Matt is a fantastic instructor. He is a genuinely nice guy which really puts you at ease when in the car with him and he is so patient and encouraging and it made learning to drive a real pleasure. A family affair
As one of Matt's more mature students I decided to resume my driving after a 20 year break when my daughter passed 1st time with Matt. I had a few failed attempts with previous instructors but the nerves always got the better of me. Despite me advising him on my 1st lesson I had previously had to abandon a test due to being a little queasy shall we say he was still happy to teach me to drive. Matt has the gift of putting you at ease and remaining calm and proffesional . Not only did he encourage me to keep going when i was ready to throw in the towel he also got me through the test with him1st time. I would highly recommend Matt whatever your age and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience .(Matt may have a completley different view though) Thank you Matt for your encouragement and believing in me even when i didn't at times.

Learn with Matt!!!
A friend of mine recommend Matt straight away when I told her I wanted to learn how to drive. She wouldn't get off my back until I made the call. I only understood why she wanted me to learn with Matt until I got in the car with him. He is a fantastic instructor, extremely calm and patient. If I stalled the car and began to feel panicky Matt was fine and just calmly ensured I started the car again and went off. Matt also has a very good sense of humour which I think helps when learning. Three of my friends have learnt with Matt or currently learning and find or found him a great instructor. Thanks Matt!!

I was recommended Matt by a colleague, and after my first lesson, I knew that learning with matt would be the right choice. He is a very friendly guy, who is easy to get along with, so it made the experience of driving very relaxed. He is very encouraging, and will give you constructive criticism so you know how to improve and become a good driver. He is also very honest, therefore wont rip you out of your money, for example, I was one of his first pupils to start learning in the Sevenoaks area, so at that time all the roads were new to him too, and because he felt he wasn't giving correct directions or was hesitant to where to go he gave me a lesson free of charge. This shows he is an honest man as he thought I wasn't gaining out of the lesson. (Don't worry; he knows all the roads in Sevenoaks now!) Overall, Matt was an amazing instructor to have, and I have already recommended him to my friends who should be learning with him soon! :)

I had an instructor before matt that i couldn't stand, however i switched to matt and was so much more happier. Matt is very patient, he has a great method of instruction that i loved to work with. He kept me calm when i made mistakes so that i could move on with ease. He is the Perfect driving instructor and i would and have highly recommended him to many of my friends who are learning to drive. he was and is absolutely superb and i enjoyed every lesson because of it. I moved to learning with Matt from an overpriced, well known company who ripped me off and made me have no confidence in driving. Matt was a star, convincing me that I could drive, giving me confidence and teaching me not just only how to pass my test but to actually drive and understand how the car worked. he is awesome, reliable and friendly and you should definately learn with him!

LEARN TO DRIVE WITH MATT
When i first got into matt's car i could just about turn the steering wheel but matt was patient and helpful the whole time. He explained every thing very simply for me and so i had knowledge about how the car works and why you have to do things like put the clutch down aswell as learning how to drive. I wasnt confident at all at first but matt made me confident! He is a great reliable and freindly teacher!

From day 1 Matt has been nothing but professional. Passing on his knowledge in an easily comprehensible manner. It was a pleasure to learn from him, especially as he instilled in me the confidence I needed and was patient with me. Unlike my prior experience with another driving school called "Lanes". He is very flexible and able to work-out a suitable schedule around you, which was great! So, to anyone out there wishing to learn to drive, I would fully recommend Matt as the one to guide you. His teaching enabled me to pass first time!

Less Room, Less Va Va Voom
Matt hoardes an extensive armoury containing various motivational and inspirational sayings. 'Less space, less pace', 'Speculate to accumulate' along with many, many more. Matt is a brilliant instructor and installs great confidence. I passed first time with Matt and I couldn't have dreamed of a better instructor. He is 10/10 no doubt.

Best driving instructor you can find!
Matt is a fantastic driving instructor who can always calm you down with great patience. Also his teaching approach is excellent!! His instruction makes everything so easy to pick up. He also is very kind and tries his best to work around you (not like other instructors!!!). I just want to say a big thank you to Matt for helping me pass my tests and would highly recommend him to everyone!!

Choose to drive with Matt
Matt was a brilliant teacher :) he helt me calm, and happy throughout my lessons and up to my test date. Even though i had a very basic level of knowledge to do with cars he explained it simply. I passed first time thanks to Matt and i would recommened anyone to learn with him. Thankyou Matt!

I would recomend Matt Shurmer to anyone who was thinking of learning to drive! Matt is a fantastic teacher who is always calm and patient. Matt is a brilliant instructor and his lessons were excellent for a number of reasons. His teaching was really useful and easy to pick up,he was very patient and encouraging, and the lessons were enjoyable. My friends have also passed with him and agree he is a great instructor and i will definitely keep on recommending him. Also his rates were fantastic and better than any others that i know of. Best driving instructor in the world, Matt Shurmer
Matt is a great teacher he is always calm and relaxed during all the lessons i had with him. I had around 33 lessons and have done a pass plus with him in which he helped me stay calm and not panic and relax. He always made things clear before i did them and made sure that i understood before i tried something new. He has many different ways of teaching different aspects of driving to make it as easy as possible. He was always a fun to drive with and great to get on with and easy to talk to, i consider him as a real mate. He was reasuring and calming when i had my test which i passed first time thanks again for that matt lol. He always made me feel positive even when i didnt do something as well as i wanted to have done and he always maintained a high level of instructing. I feel proud and privileged to have learned with matt and i am so grateful to him. I would recommend matt to anyone who wants to learn to drive. Thanks for teaching me Matt, cheers!

if you are looking at passing your test then no need to look any further,having just passed my driving test i can honestly say that matt is your man he is quite possibly the best instructor you will come across,not only does he know what he is talking about but he is also a very nice friendly honest instuctor.I cant thank matt enough for helping me over the last few weeks,i have been waiting 20yrs for this day & without him i dont think i would have done it,so if u want to pass your driving test then as i said matt is the one for you.

Highly Recommened Matt Shurmer!
I thoroughly enjoyed my lessons with Matt. He is an absolutely fantastic driving instructor and would highly recommend. His standard of teaching is exceptional and I simply can't praise him enough. I left another instructor and chose Matt instead and was instantly impressed, relieved and happy that I had made that choice to move when I did. He is such a caring, thoughtful and calm person, which all also contribute to his great success as an outstanding driving instructor. He also offers fantastic rates for the high standard of teaching that you receive. I just don't think you will ever find another instructor as good as Matt and I feel very privileged and grateful to have been taught by him. Keep up the good work Matt!

First Time Success
Matt's friendly, fun, approach made me feel relaxed during my lessons and gave me the confidence to succeed. His rates were reasonable when compared to other instructors and lead to me passing both the theory and practical tests first time, with only 2 minors in the latter, in only 10 weeks! I have recommended matt to my friends who are progressing equally as quick and I will also be using his driving school to complete the Pass Plus. Before long there will be more outstanding reviews I'm sure. Thanks for everything matt!

Passing the easy way, with Matt Shurmer
Matt Shurmer offers the highest standard of driving instruction. He always keeps a calm manner, which in turn allows you to build confidence in your own time. Matt's level of driving instruction helped me to pass the test in one attempt, and allowed me to become a safer day to day driver. Matt is an awesome instructor, his calm manor really helps you feel safe and at ease when learning with him. Having had 2 other instructors in the past, Matt totally transformed my confidence on the road, and explained things so clearly that I was able to understand and pick it up quickly. He has a great balance of getting you to a point where you feel confident, and then gently pushing you a little further. Thanks to Matt I was able to pass first time!

Matt Shurmer is a brilliant driving instructor, he has all the patience in the world. I had around 33 lessons with Matt and I had passed my test first time, he helped support me when i have nerves and was so happy when i passed, i can assure you he puts all his effort into his pupils. Matt is talked about for his patience and how calm he is, if there is a mistake made he will point it out and just talk about how you could improve. He influences you to ask as many questions as you like and is happy to help. After my test I decided to do my PASS PLUS with Matt which was also a great success. His service is brilliant and if i had the chance i would deffinately do it all over again. If you are looking for driving lessons i fully recommend Matt Shurmer, i dont think you will find a better driving instructor wherever you look . I used this buisiness because it was easy to get to and i had heard many good reports about him from his past customers. My service was brilliant, i had passed my test within 5 months of starting my driving lessons with Matt Shurmer and i totaly enjoyed every driving lesson i had. Learning where to improve and where i was doing ok was a great experience. Very good at helping you to recognise where you need to improve, very calm and patient at all times. I would thoroughly recomend Matt Shurmer to other learner drivers ! I would most deffinatly use this service again and would look forward to every lesson. This buisiness was superb and I think that this is the best driving instructor around, nothing needs to be changed and I think that this is what every learner driver is looking for.

Magnificent Driving Instructor
I was recommended by a very good friend, and as my friend had been learning before me and had been with more than one instructor he recommended Matt. I am so pleased that I went with Matt, he is not only patient, but you are able to talk to him and ask many questions and he encourages this. When first meeting Matt I said to him I wanted to pass before July the latest, but would like to set a date before then. With two double lessons a week I passed in around 27 lessons. Obviously I was very pleased to do this and Matt knew everything I wanted from the lessons e.g. times and dates. He is very reliable and contacts you if any problems occur with meeting times. I would like to thank Matt for getting me through the test and it was a real pleasure learning with you.

Excellent Driving Instructor
Matt is a fantastic Driving Instructor who is patient and very laid-back. He made me feel very comfortable and confident behind the wheel and worked at my pace. He is very flexible with lessons and tries to fit them around you and his fees are very reasonable. He is genuinly happy when you pass and I would therefore recommend him to anyone who asks.

Matt offered an exellent standard of driving tuition, fitting the lessons around my avalibility. Top class driving instructions
I have thoroughly enjoyed my lessons in Matt Shurmersom School of Motoring. They were not only perfectly aimed to the tests but also making you a safe driver on the day-to-day road.
