My boyfriend and I absolutely love McKirdy's! The staff are very nice and efficient. Our favourites on the menu are black pudding and apple stack - yum! And then we always get steaks - usually very rare fillets which are always succulent and tasty. They put wee flags on the steaks to indicate how each is done. If you ask for your steak well done then you're told it's at your own risk! Onion rings are fab and crunchy. Only small gripe is that they don't do roquefort sauce which is steaks natural accompaniment. My friend's had the McChiggis - chicken stuffed with haggis - and said that that was great too. They have a good cheeseboard if you've enough room after steak! Never tried any desserts. It's byob too which saves a bit of money. The decor is a bit drab though - all Jack Vettriano prints...McKirdy's are also a long standing butchers in edinburgh - they shouldd hunt out some fab old photos and stuff and make the place cosier.
