Went for a meal with my better half, we were expecting an amazing meal after all the hype we had heard and it is all just hype and thats being over generous, the starters were average at best then after an half a hour wait for the mains they were below average and very over priced, and to top off the meal we found a hair in the meal, we told the staff and they offered us a fresh dish but by this point we were put off. We offered to pay for what we had off the bill, but the manager insisted we pay for what we had ordered and wasn't pleasen't or sorry about it, saying noone else had a problem out of 300 covers. At this point the manager became quite rude after i had offered to pay for at least what we'd eaten, he then asked us to leave taking our money and told us never to come back. All in all the food is average and very over priced, the service was hit and miss and the manager putting very politely was very very rude. The only good thing about this place is that there is a door to walk out of when you leave.

We tried this after it's recent Nottinghams No.1 tag, I can't say I agree but the food was good although overpriced.

My husband and I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary here on Saturday night and it was really nice. The surroundings were warm and welcoming yet still quite intimate despite the restaurant being quite busy. I agree with the previous review with regards the selection of unusual dishes on the menu and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I particularly enjoyed the chutney tray which was not the 'norm', mango chutney etc. The poppadoms were served with apple & mint chutney, orange & apricot chutney and an onion salad in a spicy sauce - it was delicious! Unfortunately, I found my main dish (tikka masala) to be quite salty but that might be because we have all but eradicated salt from our diet so I might have been a bit sensitive to it. The whole restaurant was clean and the bathrooms were immaculate (sorry, I'm a girl so such things are important to me!). I would have to highly commend the staff because the customer service was impeccable. We felt this restaurant could give most posh London restaurants a run for their money - we'll definately go back there.

I visited MemSaab on my last business trip to Nottingham in Jan 2007. Despite it being only a Monday night, the restaurant was almost full and buzzing with activity. I found the place warm and very welcoming. The overall service was excellent with well spaced tables throughout. The food was very good indeed with some intresting and unusual dishes such as Tandoori Ostrich and Goan Fish. The prices were very reasonable for the quality on offer. This is an ideal place for winding down after a hectic of meetings. I would definately go back again. Tony Zendra

My husband and I had a fabulous meal at Memsaab last week. The salmon and cod as starters were a treat to the pallate. This is certainly the best Indian restaurant in Nottingham and we are going back there to celebrate our daughter's graduation in July. We know we won't be disappointed.

I visited the memsaab for the first time in jan 05 and enjoyed one of the finest indian meals I have ever had. The restaurant has been recently refurbished and is under new management. there are some original and unusual dishes on the menu such as tandoori salmon and ostrich. the service is very proffesional and prices reasonable. this is definitely an upmarket indian restaurant without the late drinking crowds so typical of many indian places. In my opinion the finest Indian diner in Nottingham.

Mem Saabs was an excellent dining experience. The staff were there to cater for your every need and the new refurbishment looks stunning. I could not fault it. This is quite a posh restaurant so expect to pay more than your indian takeout but it is well worth it. Despite the portions seeming small they are more than enough. The desserts, especially the apple pie, are divine. Well worth a visit!
