Less enjoyable than drowning

Quite possibly the worst sales experience I have ever had. The salesman and sales manager treated the whole process as a tag team type con exercise. They were rude (on a personal level), pushy, obnoxious and unscrupulous. I encountered sales techniques that you would even expect buying a used ford from a dodgy dealership, never mind a Mercedes from a reputable dealer. We were railroaded into pay a small deposit which they stated was 100% refundable should we change our mind. Although we did have it refunded now we had to go through head office. The sales manager and salesman refused to repay it, they outright lied about it being refundable, dragged their heels as much as possible, refused to take calls, hung up on us on one occasions, and the best one was the salesman suggesting that if we purchased a cheaper car from another Mercedes dealership it would have something wrong with it, therefore putting our child at risk. This sales technique was then backed up with the salesman delivering a huge guilt trip about his personal life making us feel very uncomfortable; however, I now question whether this was even true as well. After speaking with head office they assured us that this is not how they conduct business, and from their quick response this does seem to be the case. Head office was very understanding, responsive and seemed genuinely appalled at the behaviour of the Nottingham sales team. Furthermore, the Derby dealership seems to be what you would expect from a Mercedes dealership. This is a very brief version of the events of that day, and to be honest I don't think reflect enough how awful they were. My advice would be to avoid this sales team like the plague., and deal with the derby dealership instead.
