About Us...

This lovely Victorian seaside town offers breathtaking views across the Solway of Dumfries and Galloway and has, as its backdrop, the timeless Lakeland Mountains. In the other direction we are backed by the Lake District Fells and Mountains and to the east we have Hadrian's Wall.

There are wide tree-lined granite set streets, a picturesque promenade, recreational facilities and colourful summer festivals.

Enjoy a round of golf at Cumbria's number 1 golf course or in the area there are facilities to enjoy bowls, windsurfing and a launch for jet-ski's and pleasure boats. There's even a funfair overlooking the promenade and the beach which stretches 13 miles to Maryport.

Carlisle and the Borders
Historic Carlisle is just a half hour drive away. Visit its stunning Castle and Tullie House Museum. Or spend a few blissful hours shopping in this bustling city centre. Hadrian's Wall is also nearby, stretching 73 miles from east to west. Or cross the border to Scotland for a trip to the Old Blacksmith's Shop at Gretna, famous for its romantic tales of elopement. There's also the Gretna Gateway Shopping Centre.

The Lake District
