Today's businesses rely on computer and Internet technology in order to communicate and provide up to date and accurate business information. To do that you need a reliable team of professionals working for you. Micro-Business Maintenance has the proven track record for all your requirements so give us a call.

Computer Maintenance

Your computer system is at the centre of your entire business and without it things can't get done. At MBM we understand this, which is why our computer maintenance services are setup the way they are.

We provide proactive maintenance and remote monitoring of server solutions to make sure nothing goes wrong with your network. However, should the unthinkable happen and something does go wrong we work with the sole aim of getting your system up and running as soon as possible.

Our highly trained, Microsoft Certified technicians will keep you up to date with the work we are doing so you're aware of what's going on. We aim to build relationships based on trust as we believe in growing with our customers and a lot of our customers have been with us since we first started.

Network Management

MBM is experienced in providing networking and management to a range of businesses. We have some of the most experienced IT professionals available to advise you in network management. Here's an outline of our services:

VPN Tunnels and Remote Access

IPsec VPN's provide a means of connecting sites and branch offices together to make the network resources at each site available company-wide. This kind of wide area network connections no-longer require expensive leased-lines which means that even the smallest multi-site business can afford to connect their networks together.

Other forms of VPN connectivity include point-to-point VPN which provide mobile or home workers with a means of connectivity to head office. This allows users to work as if they were in the office and wired into the business network.

Naturally, allowing remote users and branch offices to access your network needs to be carefully handled such that security and data integrity is maintained.

IT Security

Your business faces significant daily security challenges every minute of the day - from hackers on the Internet and from staff on your network. Your data is often your most vital and important asset, so why share it with anyone else? At MBM we pride ourselves on our security record and endeavour to make sure all your data is protected from attack or theft.

Some of the policies that we can provide are:

* Anti-Virus Policies and Procedures
* E-Mail Policies and Procedures
* Firewall and Internet Security
* Internet Security Policies and Procedures
* Physical Security
* User Identification & Access Management

MBM's Disaster Recovery Solution

Conventional backup and restore processes just don't cut it anymore, so we have created an online service that continuously streams your critical IT server to our Midlands data centre. Any changes made on your server such as new files, Emails, updates, etc are copied almost immediately to this remote backup server over your Internet connection.

This process is similar to off-site data backup; however the main difference is that we are continuously restoring your data on to a hard disk at our end. This means that in the event of a serious failure, you don't have to wait for a restore operation to finish. Our backup is always a complete, working and ready-to-go image of your server from just before the point where your machine was lost.

So if and when something goes terribly wrong with your server (stolen, damaged or seriously crashed), we simply marry-up the live version of your server that we have in our data centre with a loan server and bring them both to your site. Our engineer then starts your server on the loan hardware and your business is back on-line in hours... not days!

We are therefore constantly ready for an IT failure and can deliver you a working server in the event of the worst happening. No delays, no restores, no hassle. And if you're ever been through an IT disaster in the past and have experienced no Emails or no Internet access, you/ll know just how frustrating that is.

Network Cabling

The most important part of structured cabling is its design. Cabling needs to provide a reliable, stable platform for your business's data and voice. Network points should be situated in ideal locations to cater for office moves and extra staff in the future.

Cabling also needs to cater for the requirements of different users and departments, for example, admin users would require a standard network speed but with networked peripherals nearby such as printers and scanners; a design department may require very high bandwidth to each workstation for access to large files from a central server location very quickly; and other users such as managers and team leaders my require a wireless network connection for desk hopping and frequent use of meeting rooms where cables popping up from desks is unsightly.

Structured cabling can allow wireless access points to be hidden in areas above suspended ceilings giving maximum area coverage and can deliver power to the device using a technology called Power-Over-Ethernet.

Cabling can also provide solutions for outdoor connectivity such as linking the networks of two buildings together and providing a platform for CCTV/security equipment.

Bespoke Programming

Micro-Business Maintenance has been writing software for businesses since 1990. Whether you want a bit of work in Office or a full on-line database-driven web application, we have the knowledge and experience to write it in a controlled, cost-effective manner.

At MBM we have been writing software for businesses for over 20 years. Whether you require a bit of work in Office or a full on-line database-driven web application, we have the knowledge and experience to write it in a controlled, cost-effective manner.

Wireless Networking

Wireless networks can be extremely useful to organisations for various different reasons and applications. You might have sales staff that visit the office infrequently so don't require a permanent desk; you might want a computer in an office where there currently isn't any structured cabling; or you might want to provide free Wi-Fi access for your customers when they pop in.

Whatever the application we at MBM can provide you with a solution that will fit your needs and budget, be it a single access point in the middle of your office through to twenty or more access points bridged together in your hotel. We ensure that the system is secure from unwanted users and sized correctly to give you the best coverage possible.

Business Internet Connections

Most businesses use Email as a key mode of communication. It is therefore critical that your business' Internet connection is reliable and fast. MBM provides a range of superb, business-quality broadband and Internet connection feeds, so whether you're a home worker or a large organisation, we have the right Internet connectivity service for you.

Online Data Backup

Most companies who have been in business for some time have grown accustomed to the daily routine of taking last night's data backup tape off-site and inserting tonight's tape.

However MBM now offers additional 'belt-and-braces' solution which guarantees that if the tape you take home at night gets damaged or your file server is stolen or your server is destroyed... you have not lost everything and your critical business data is safe and can be accessed remotely via our online backup servers. This means your business will not have lost all of its data and can continue uninterrupted whilst the new fileserver is being installed.

Anti Spam Filtered Email

Anti Spam Overview

Email spam is a real problem for most businesses. You probably know all too well why spam is such a problem but here are common issues

1. Lost Productivity – If your staff have to deal with an Inbox full of junk Email each morning (and as a continuous stream throughout the day), that's wasted time.

2. Spam Content – Some of the content in spam Emails is inappropriate for the workplace. The last thing you need are staff members complaining to you (or their union representative) about inappropriate pictures appearing in their Inbox all the time.

3. IT Infrastructure Costs – Each spam Email you receive consumes a piece of your IT infrastructure; a piece of disk space, processing time on your Email server and, of-course, capacity on your Internet connection.

Any of these issues on their own should be enough for you to install a good anti spam service but combined it's no contest; you must tackle the spam problem... issue 1 costs you money, issue 2 opens you to legal problems and issue 3 slows down your IT systems! Call us to talk through how we can resolve these problems with our Filtered Email services or read on to hear more about these issues. Call on 01902 324494 or Email sales@mbmltd.co.uk

Cloud Services Overview

What is Cloud Computing?

Cloud computing is a way of outsourcing all or part of your IT system to suppliers on the Internet. Cloud services are usually paid for on a monthly OPEX basis rather than large one-off CAPEX costs to implement similar in-house solutions.

For instance, Email is a classic example of a cloud service. You can, if you choose, buy an expensive server, install Microsoft Exchange and run your Email in-house. However, you could let Microsoft or Google run your Email mailboxes for you in their data centres and simply pay each month for each user that you have. You are thereby removing the capital expenditure of a new mail server but replacing it with an operational expenditure fee each month that is closely matched to what you actually use, rather like a pay-as-you-go mobile phone.

Increasingly, you can place more than just your Email services into the cloud. You can, for instance, buy cloud-based customer relationship management (CRM) systems or online accounts systems or online versions of your favourite Office software. Everything is stored in the cloud so there's no on-site hardware, software, maintenance or support.

It can be a very cost effective approach for certain organisations...

• Very Small – If there are only a few of you in your business then cloud services can work very well. It means that you don't have to buy a server to hold all your data centrally.

• Medium-sized and larger – The costs of deploying important services such as Email, CRM, collaboration and line-of-business applications in larger organisations can be very expensive. It is seen as a better option to let a cloud services supplier deal with all the technicalities of purchasing, implementing, managing and supporting these solutions and for the company to simply purchase what it needs on a monthly basis. No big CAPEX spend, no extra in-house IT support and in-house technicians and a simple monthly fee.

• Highly Distributed/Mobile Businesses – If your staff work at different locations or travel extensively and your organisation has no major head office, cloud services work very well because they can be accessed from anywhere using the Internet.

• Start-up Businesses – Often new businesses choose not to spend their precious start-up capital on expensive in-house IT infrastructure and choose instead to buy cloud services, paying for them on a monthly basis and increasing them as their businesses grow.

Each organisation needs to look carefully at both the cloud and in-house (also called ‘on-premise') options to understand which is best for them. Some businesses, like banks and financial organisations, are bound by regulation to keep their customers' data in their own data centres and so will never use public cloud services. Some businesses might just prefer to spend a large amount of money initially and not have to keep paying during the life of the service. These kinds of decisions are as much down to the financial director as they are to the IT director.

Testimonials

I am a small business working from home and therefore don't have an IT department to call on when I have problems.I couldn't get Outlook to automatically archive old emails, and my laptop was slow to start up/shutdown. I asked MBM Ltd to take a look.Their technician arrived at my office and set up the automated archive in Outlook for me and also had a look at why my laptop was so slow. They resolved the technical issues so it now starts really quickly and my emails are archiving away!I'd highly recommend MBM for anyone like me who works from home and needs their own IT department. Friendly, knowledgeable and eager to fix a problem.

Sharon Kendal, Blue Orange Marketing Ltd

We have been more than happy with their quick response to any minor issues we have had. We have no hesitation in extending our contract for a further 12 months and recommending them to other companies.
