About Us

Vince Williams and his wife Marijke have both lived and worked in Burntwood for over 46 years. Vince was born in Rugby, Warwickshire, and went to the local grammar school where his love of all sports came to the fore. The family owned a local funeral directors and it was there that as a young boy his interest began in the funeral profession. Helping to make coffins, trying to drive big funeral cars such as Humber Super Snipes and Daimler DS420's when finally, he was big enough to reach the pedals. A number of years later he was encouraged by family and friends to open a funeral directors, and after acquiring suitable premises opened Middleton & Wood Funeral Directors in 1997. Middleton & Wood's reputation is founded on going above and beyond to ensure we give your loved one the send-off they deserve. Vince has even arranged a scattering of ashes at Duxford Airfield from a Spitfire aircraft and other ashes scattered from the top of Mount Everest. Vince sadly passed away in February 2022 in what would have been his 25th anniversary of owning and running Middleton & Wood.

Sian took over as Director and full time running of the family business in March 2020 after having spent 22 years working as a Procurement Consultant for Blue Chip companies. Sian is however no stranger to the funeral business having been born and raised in Burntwood and still living in the area with her husband, and having helped her Dad Vince over the years. Sian takes great pride in being her Dad's daughter, to be equally as committed to ensuring a bespoke send off for families striving for nothing short of perfection. To this end, Sian has previously helped in meeting special requests to page the hearse riding her horse in dressage attire, and in assisting in the care and preparation of the deceased. Ensuring Middleton & Wood remained a family business, Sian is very proud to be able to continue her Dad's legacy and hard work in ensuring Middleton & Wood remains family owned and run and able to offer an unrivalled service to their clients.

Following in Vince's footsteps, Sian works together with families to ensure new modern ideas are offered whilst maintaining traditional values and ensuring a well established reputation of high standards is upheld.
