I ordered a ton of top soil from them, as others I thought the website looked professional. I had an email confirming delivery so all was looking good. The day before a girl rang to say they couldn't deliver as a machine had broken down, that was fair enough and I re-arranged for the following week. I called them in the morning to check it was on it's way and I was told I was on the delivery sheet and it would be with me that day, the girl also gave me the "delivery drivers" number so I could find out what time. I called and it wasn't the driver but he said that it would be with me in the afternoon. I waited in all day, until 8.30pm (their websites says deliveries up to 8pm) and nothing, not even a phone call. I rang and left a message on the mobile and also called the "office" (which I'm pretty sure was just someone's house) the girl said she's find out what happened and call me back in the morning. I heard nothing! no phone call and no soil. Shocking service!!! How are they still doing business??? Quite glad in a way as I was able to order it from somewhere else and it was cheaper.

This company needs to go back on Rogue Traders and watch dog! VERY rude, discriminating, terrible attitude, customer service...what customer service, unreal, never come across anything like this before. Last week I ordered some soil and put that I can accept delivery at any time this week..... I expected a phone call to say thankyou for your order, we will be delivering your soil on ..... a particular date...HOW WRONG WAS I..... I rung the company a few days after who said they are hoping to deliver it a few days later and they would ring me..... NO PHONE CALL So I rung them again this morning (almost a week later with no phone calls from them) I asked when my soil would be arriving as I was told it may have been earlier on in the week, Robert I believe his name was stated that I am in actual fact out of the delivery area ( why they did not tell me this earlier in the week I dont know!) however they will drop it of tomo (please bare in mind this was all said rude and with an attitude) I said well actually i would like an apologie, its not my fault no one bothered to ring and say im not in the delivery area, and that no one is decent enough to ring me and keep me updated about the order. I wanted to get my point across, however, robert kept interruping and said we can go around in circules all day, i was gobbed smacked then he said, i tell you what lets forget about the order shall we, bye and hung up, HOW RUDE, WHAT A TERRIBLE ATTITUE. I was soooo wound up i rung back and said what is your name and who is the manager, Robert said I am in manager, so i said is there any other managers, he responded by saying, how many managers do you need, i said well i want to complain, he said YEH THATS COZ WE DO THINGS DIFFERENT UP NORTH DONT WE... taking the mick of my yorkshire accent, before i got chance to say I live in the midlands he hung up. So discrimination of my accent and for being up north, terrible customer service, no contact and rude I WOULD NEVER NEVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY!!!

A professiona looking web site so i ordered online, i recieved just an email saking about delivery dates the night before it was due to be delivered, so replied , when i was phoned by the owner/ delivery bloke 'James' he seemed abit off when i said that i wouldnt be there till after 12 as was arranged, and when i said i would only pay by cheque he went off his head , f-in this and that, telling me that as a professional gas business owner i would never take a cheque so why whould he!?? would not listen to a word i said, just shouted and swore away at me telling me how bad my business was and how bad the area the house it was meant to be deliverd to was, completely arrogent and unprofessional, steer clear from thes person, if they dont take a cheque they obviously have something to hide. advertised as 'central turf and topsoil' do not let the good website fool you.

I just rang this company to ask about delivery times available, found the person who answered the phone not particularly bothered about my query and not particularly friendly so thought I would check the reviews. Glad I did I will not be placing an order with them now!

i ordered 100 square metres of turf when it was delivered it did not look very good quality but i laid in any way it was full of moss/weeds & was also full of holes i was also 10 rolls short i have complained to the owner who has a very bad attitude and not willing to listen to any complaints this company should not be aloud to carry on trading because thay only rip you off if i could turn the clock back i would of ordered from another company

Ordered 'premium turf', roles are a square yeard and not a square metre as advertised on the website, so i had to order more turf to complete my garden. Quality is the worst you can get. Rude on the phone, liars and dishonests. I dont know how can the authorities permit that this company continues trading!! What can we as consumers do to stop them?

had a bit of a run in with midland turf on the phone a little while ago re late delivery - then decided to check to see if anyone else had had a problem with them - came across this site (thankfully!) and immediately rang back to cancel the order - he told me to "drop dead". Nice.

Our turf didn't turn up when I rang two days later to enquire why I wasn't rude just asking the obvious question any customer is entitled to ask. The owner told me his driver had been involved in a fatal accident and I was just about to ask why he didn't call us to let us know when he said my whole world obviously revolved round my 24 roll of turf- I called him unprofessional and he hung up- sooo rude!

I wish I had checked the company out before buying from them! I ordered the "premium quality" turf, and 1 tonne 1/2 topsoil it came on friday, whilst the guy was unloading it I noticed that It had quite a bit of moss in. I asked the delivery guy if it was the premium quality and he said yes, my internal alarm bells were ringing, but I so wanted to get on with my garden I ignored them! DOH! Anyway my husband came back and I paid by cheque (which is a bonus), we inspected the turf more closely and it was rubbish to say the least. my husband tried to ring friday and saturday only to be told that the owner wasnt there and the staff had been trying to contact him all day, they gave my husband his mobile number which he tried with no joy. Sunday he tried the office again to be told the same thing and this time they gave him the owners landline! neither time had my husband asked for his private numbers. which says to me the staff just dont want to deal with it. so he tried the landline but to no avail. so he left a message on the mobile saying that we would cancel the cheque until we had talked to him. soon after the owner contacted my husband in a slurry of abuse, asking him if he worked on a sunday, how did he get his private number and what he knew about turf he probably could have written on a postage stamp. To which my husband replied yes (to the sunday working) but he'd taken time off to sort the garden, and the staff had volunteered the numbers and the whole reason he was ringing was because he didnt know anything about turf and wanted to converse with him about the state of it! anyway my husband kept it down and the owner said that we couldnt cancel the cheque because it had the card number on the back (I have cancelled the cheque,but with a £10 fee). The end of the conversation was that the owner would arrange for pick up of the turf yesterday (which hasnt happened!). I rang the office yesterday to ask about pick up but the staff didnt know what time. I have told them ive cancelled the cheque but the turf is still out the front! We've already used the topsoil which was also a bit naff, but I have a cheque ready here for the cost of the topsoil, when they eventually pick it up, if they do...ever! I think i'll go to B&Q the turf there is lovely!!!

Totally agree with the other reviews, I took delivery of "premium turf" thinking the "30 day no quibble guarantee" was testament to quality. It was not. The first delivery was long grass, full of weeds, clover and thistle. I complained relentlessly, in spite of how rude and unhelpful the owner is, and he reluctantly swapped it...for more of the same rubbish, which I refused delivery of. Am now pursuing him for a refund, probably through the small claims court, with a report to trading standards. I wish I had read these reviews first. Don't keep this company (also trading as Central Turf and Topsoil) in business

just took delivery of the premium turf,it's dreadful quality.it's 4" long has clover and thistle's and the width varies.have just called to complain and told to call back tomorrow.I'm gonna get in touch with rouge traders as this is a complete joke.I spent £183.75 for turf not fit for a goat.

I was delivered an initial batch of 'Midland Turf' which was found to be very poor quality and full of weed and clover. I raised my concerns and they explained they'd had a bad summer but would ensure the next delivery was up to standard. Well I fell for It.! The next batch was appalling and carefully stacked with the most awful of the turf at the bottom. The professional gardener who laid the turf advised me it had been grown on very poor ground and had likely been underwater for quite some time. I contacted Midland Turf and despite my best diplomacy I was subjected to an insulting rant from the owner. I've noted numerous other complaints regarding Midland Turf and noticed now the review option has been turned off on the Midland Turf and Topsoil site... ‘Natures little Wonder' I do wonder how they continue to stay in business ----- Please don't confuse this company with The Midland Turf Supplies in Meriden. This Meriden based business is not related and offers a quality product and excellent service

Do not use this company the "premium turf" is rubbish. I would not feed it to cows. Tried to complain but just go a torrent of abuse and threats of violence. Trading Standards have been notified.

my friend brough turf off this firm a few weeks ago tried to complain straight away but was accussed of harrassing the owner on the phone for calling twice, the owner was intimidating and said if they wanted to complain to do so by letter. The turf has been laid and has more clover than grass, they have had to feed it over sow it and intend to weedkiller it next year and over sow again to get it to the "premium turf " described on the website. trading standards have been notified, though due to costs involved they have decided to give up on attempting to claim back the money.
