Specialist Services

Money Minder provides you with access to Independent Financial Advisers holding the highly respected professional qualification of AFPC. (The Advanced Financial Planning Certificate) See below for more details on what benefits this brings to you.

AFPC is the higher level qualification offered by the Personal Finance Society, the Professional Body for financial advisers. To follow are details of the exams that our advisers have completed and how having this knowledge and being able to apply it is of benefit to our clients.

G10: Taxation and Trusts - holding this qualification allows us to provide specialist advice in the areas of individual, corporate and trust taxation in regard to current legislation and tax mitigation techniques. As a direct result of holding this specialist knowledge, we often find ourselves recommending that our clients engage the services of a suitably qualified and experienced solicitor when discussing IHT mitigation via the effective use of wills, trusts and gifts. This qualification also provides us with a thorough understanding of the requirements of the Trustee Act 2000 to enable us to provide advice to both individual and professional trustees in the investment management, taxation implications and asset allocation of investments held in trust for beneficiaries

G20: Personal Investment Planning - holding this qualification provides us with detailed knowledge of investment markets and portfolio management skills in order for us to advise higher net worth, investment orientated clients and those with more complex financial planning needs. It enables us to undertake detailed research on both funds and fund managers before making recommendations to our clients. Due to a deeper level of knowledge, it also allows us to share with our clients our informed market views with justification in a way that clients can understand when advising on bespoke investment portfolios and asset allocation in order to allow them to make informed investment decisions. This has had a quantifiable and positive result on the returns gained for our clients on their investment portfolios over the last 7 years.

G30: Business Financial Planning - holding this qualification allows us to provide advice to corporate clients in regard to the pros and cons of different corporate trading structures such as the benefits of becoming a Limited Company, a Limited Liability Partnership or having in place bespoke Partnership Agreements etc. In many circumstances, the advice we provide will result in the client requiring further legal advice that will need to be undertaken by a corporate lawyer. This qualification demonstrates a full knowledge of corporate financial planning from understanding the company's financial position to advising on shareholder protection, keyman insurance and employee benefit schemes. It provides corporate financial advice skills ranging from areas such as the Partnership Act 1890 to bankruptcy and insolvency procedures to executive share option schemes and accountancy practice calculations such as "return on capital employed", "net present values" and "gearing ratios". This qualification is essential for advisers wishing to provide advice to corporate clients.

G60: Pensions - holding this qualification provides us with an in depth knowledge of all of the different pension regimes that have been in place over the last few decades. Whilst the new regime has been branded as "simplification", many industry commentators have remarked that as the new legislation moves forward, we seem to be substituting one set of complicated rules for a completely new set that are equally as complicated! In addition, this qualification means that we are able to provide advice to company owners on specialist schemes that are able to hold a wider range of assets such as commercial property. This is the key paper required by the FSA for advisers authorised to provide higher level pension transfer and opt out advice. It covers all aspects of pre and post retirement planning together with pension transfers.

H15: Sales Supervision and Management - This qualification provides a better understanding of management techniques within a regulated environment and is the only business and people management paper currently offered by the Personal Finance Society. It allows us to provide a structured learning environment for our adviser team in order to develop not only the holders own technical and personal skills but also those of other team members ensuring that all members can work effectively for the overall benefit of our clients and the efficient and compliant management of the business its self.
