Love this place and we always go here whenever in Penzance. A stunning range of eclectic products. I have never managed a visit without making a purchase and this time my husband bought a couple of things too. Whoever is the buyer is a genius. Really helpful staff too.

Sad the Exeter branch closed. It was the best shop in the city. Penzance shop is great too.

The prices are off the scale, the goods not always what they appear to be and the service non-existent. Well-known for a "no-returns" policy (despite what the Law says) it defies all logic that this place is still open when many more reputable ones have gone to the wall. Half-way up Causewayhead in Penzance this place is packed with what appears to be junk in a very ramshackle manner. Staff are hard to locate and surly when you do. I suggest you shop elsewhere and avoid this place like the plague.

This shop sells poor quality goods at ridiculoulsy marked up prices. I was sold goods there and told they were pure wool, when I realised they were not and tried to return them I was refused. Don't go near them is my advice.

OK, I am simply writing to defend Maggie's name here slightly. I worked for her for a year after finishing university. I had worked in various retail outlets outside of Cornwall, where the conditions are much worse and much more is demanded of you, and I thoroughly enjoyed working for Maggie. Yes, she is a bit of a tyrant, yes she is demanding, but ultimately that is because she knows what she wants and how to get things done. Her shops do a great trade, and in a place with as little funding and a dilapidated market as Cornwall, she must be doing something right. Wages were always good for the area, good for lots of other areas too to be honest, the staff were fun, easy going and treated me like family. It has been a long time since I have been back in there, it has been a long time since I have been back to Cornwall, but I will definitely drop in and see who is around next time I visit. People, you really do need to calm down or get something more in your lives. Fishing perhaps, or embroidery.

My first job on a youth training scheme for £25 a week was at mounts bay trading in penzance. One day I was sent on the roof to clean guttering!! I waited on tables in the Bay Tree restaurant at the back after workiing all day in the shop. I was sent out for lettuces because they were so disorganised. She sacked me in the end because I took a cheque that was not signed...a mistake, I had to pay 10p to the shop for the cheque to be photocopied and returned. I have great pleasure now as I shop in Rock Bottom which has replaced the restaurant. The prices are much less than the rip off prices in the shop and believe you me there is one hell of a mark up. I saw Maggie in there not long ago and said to her' I thought you would have returned to canada by now' she didnt know what to say..she always has been a vile woman with no life but the shops but hey...imagine being one of her sons or worse still husband. We will have to see if the shop survives in the future because Penzance is becoming like a ghost town.
