Burge Builders of Meldreth

Wary of contracting a new building firm out of the blue, my neighbour recommended Burge Builders. Armed with a structural engineer report, I contracted them to remove an internal load-bearing wall and support the above with a new steel girder with new foundations. I was suspicious from the outset when they said they don't have sugar in their tea - were they really builders? This was not their only difference from normal builders, though. For a start, dust sheets went down on everything and the hoover was out and tools neatly stacked away every evening before they went home. They handled everything from the council building control inspections to improving the designs, sourcing the bespoke steel work, etc. while keeping me informed. Niven, Jamie and Nathan (his sons) were very polite, cheerful, efficient, very tidy, safety conscious and just extremely professional. They were clearly very experienced, intelligent and calm in their work, putting me at great ease. Their attention to small details was brilliant. The estimate was initially high but caveated that it included any unforeseen problems, of which there were none, so the bill came in much lower than feared. All in all, it is with great relief that I can recommend them wholeheartily, and will of course be using them again.
