About

We are a firm of solicitors who specialise in residential property work (i.e. house sales and purchases and remortgages) but who also have teams that can look after all of your personal legal affairs such as Wills, probate trusts, family (divorce etc) employment issues and corporate and commercial matters (including intellectual property and computer law). In fact we cover all areas of the law apart from crime. Above all, our main focus is on our commitment to client care and communication. Its unlikely that you will need to buy in to legal services on a regular basis, so when you do, you need to know that the service you get will be of the highest quality, and with O'Neill Patient, that service commitment is guaranteed. We will work with you to make sure that your requirements aremet and that you fully understand what can, at times, seem to be technical and complicated issues.

Currently acting for the buyer of a house my wife and I are selling. They do not communicate, lose paperwork and delay for no reason. There is no chain at all (empty house and first-time buyer) so there should be no issues. They are costing us hundreds of pounds.

Having already lost out on one house purchase due to the incompetencies of the conveyancing company we where determined not to let it happen again. With our buyer still in place and their funds secured we found an alternative property with vacant occupancy and no upward chain. Better still we are buying for less than we are selling. So we asked of our financial advisor of a company that would carry out the conveyancing in a professional and timely manner........... Thats where it all went wrong. All of the previous posts raising comments about O'Neil Patient ring true with our own experience. Lost paperwork. Factual inaccuracies, a blatant inability to deal with anything within a reasonable timeframe. Our impression is that of a company who are quite happy to insult our intelligence with the flimsiest of excuses as to why or why not something has been done. Having being in contact with one of their more senior staff and suffering the usual corporate verbal smoke and mirrors, defending the abilities of their staff and being assured of their own personal oversight and diligence in the completion of our transaction. I can with a fair hand state that O'Neil patient are a company best overlooked when sourcing a conveyancing company. Possibly one of the finest examples of their ineptitude, was to be told that amongst many things that they where waiting on from our vendor's solicitors was sight of the certificate of building regulations compliance. We took great pleasure in informing them that we had a photocopy of said certificate. When asked by them if we could forward a copy on to O'Neil Patient's offices, we informed them that they had sent the copy to us as part of the survey pack. It has become a daily chore to have to phone and email O'Neil. It is our belief that unless your case notes are on the top of the pile that morning, then it is most likely that they will not get looked at until such times as a complaint is raised. Their attention to detail is woeful and even when presented with requested information they seem unable to extract from that information the details they require, finding it easier to wait for a call of complaint and continue with the excuses (of which they must have written numerous volumes). A good example of this was a complaint on their part that they had not received our deposit. Now why would we require a deposit as we are selling at a higher price than we are purchasing with no lender required. Most of all we dislike being "held over a barrel" By this company. That they knowingly trade on the fact that to dispense with their services some two months in, would mean having to start the process all over again with another firm. Please avoid this firm at all costs.

Stay away if you want a smooth move

1 star is to many for this company. I can't get hold of anyone when I need to speak to them, they don't call back, they don't chase anything up, they put you on hold then cut you off, they say they are going to call you back and they don't. We are now holding up the chain as they haven't done what the they said they would. I have just called one of the managing partners who could only apologise for being under staffed. If you want things to run smoothly don't use this company.

I applied for a BTL re-mortgage with Platform at the end of March 2012 and the mortgage is expected to be completed in 'early June'. O'Neill Patient were appointed by Platform and the problems have included: - The case manager left the company and the replacement didn't contact me for 2 weeks while I was expecting the re-mortgage to be completed. - Documents intended for other customers were sent to me in error. - Platform and O'Neill Patient couldn't decide who was waiting for which document so I phoned them both and eventually my mortgage advisor sorted out the problem. - I had to contact the case manager for updates whereas I expected there to be some communication between us when they were expecting information or documents. The lesson I have learned is that if you don't hear anything from a solicitor within a week then start to pester them!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

AVOID AT ALL COSTS I was allocated O'Neill Patient by my mortgage company and checked this site before my property purchase. I was pleased with the reviews so went ahead in using them. Having completed the transaction I can't believe we are talking about the same company. The service we received was extremely shoddy. Documents consistently had mistakes, it was impossible to contact our case manager on the phone and the impression was generally of dealing with an automated machine spitting out inaccurate documents. O'Neill Patient added a high degree of stress and irritation to what should of been a straightforward transaction and I would advise any other potential customers to run a mile.
