I spend a lot of my spare time for old and new clients looking at the options they have in today's mortgage market.I'd like to say things are ok - but its just not the case. The ever changing criteria and blinkered underwriting that occurs just underlines the fact that the banks still do not want to lend to 'normal' applicants.Now you have to prove that your deposit savings have been accumulated over a period of time (Abbey) or if your name is remotely middle eastern the FSA now want the broker to record the fact the name has been checked against a Home Office list (Compliance directive). And if your mobile phone network has messed up your direct debit just forget it - no mortgage for you!However there is light at the end of the tunnel - just drop me a line.An alternative area that does have some good news is the Green investment market - Carbon Credits - Jatropha Bio-fuel, Wheat harvests, Rain Forest projects etcSo if the value of your house is going down or you cant get a decent mortgage or re-mortgage - go Green !
