Like many other string players I'm prepared to put up with the inconvenience of coming here from outside Oxford in order to deal with people I really can trust. The world of luthiers is full of sharks masquerading as gentlemen, but these three might have been created to illustrate the word integrity. They are dedicated, pleasantly unworldly, and absolutely know what they are doing. They are unusual in not overcharging. Two of them make instruments, one makes bows. They recently did a set-up on my 18th century cello, bringing about an extraordinary improvement. I'm an amateur, but became their customer on the recommendation of several friends who play professionally and have been coming here for years - also, as it happens, from outside Oxford.
