NOT FOR ME BUT I'VE TICKED IT OFF THE LIST!

I have literally been nagging my boyfriend to go to the Oxo Tower for as long as I remember. So he booked us a table as a surprise the day before Valentines this year.As we walked down the Southbank I guessed where we were going and got very excited! However, as soon as I walked in there I found it rather disappointing and realised that i actually prefer places with a little edge! The Oxo Tower is nothing but elegant and efficient. You are swept across the floor amongst the other diners, the elders all dressed in suits and the young rich in ralph lauren shirts with the top button undone.I was handed the wine list on arrival which, was the size of an encyclopedia!!After a mini giggle fit I decided not to go for wine. I already felt like sitting there was costing me too much money! We did actually think about leaving as it just felt stiff and uncomfortable in there but decided to stick it out for the experience.we were moved to a table with a better view but had tables either side of us which were very close and it did not feel intimate at all. You could hear others conversations.I think i prefer dark, candle lit places where you can really be romantic rather than the glamour and exquisiteness of what the Oxo pretentiously offered. The food we ordered was very rich and enjoyable but not memorable. The overall experience was extremely disappointing and we really didnt stay long.Perhaps I am too down to earth for this restaurant? My wallet does not usually stretch to such indulging but when it does I definitely expect more. Oxo tower was pretty BORING!!!!AND, I felt gutted when the bill came - now really - that is not a great experience is it??

This is such a fab night out if you want one that will stick in your memory. I've been here twice, once for a birthday and once for a hen party. On both occasions a great time was had by all and the food was stunning. I have to say it can get very crowded in there, and they also do that thing where they take your wine away from your table and then refill it when they see that it's running a bit dry (annoying!) But these are the only 2 downsides of an otherwise lovely restaurant with a view that is unrivaled. I had fish last time i went which was fantastically cooked, they don't scrimp on portion size either unlike other top restaurants which makes a nice change!

I haven't eaten in the restaurant, but love going to the Oxo Tower for a cocktail before or after a slighly more affordable dinner elsewhere. Grab a drink and enjoy the view!

Situated at the top of a large tower in one of the world's most expensive cities, we can expect the oxo tower restaurant to be expensive. We can also expect it to be popular and crowded. Which it was when I went there. While I was dining a rather large drinking party walked in. Needless to say that the staff focused on them more. The whole experience was fairly unpleasant.I know it is just me. But I dislike the design of modern restaurants. I prefer the design of a harvester or Carvery. Put those at the top of a tower and I would gladly pay the oxo tower prices. The food there is superb. Unfortunately I cannot say the same as the oxo. Nevertheless, the bar seemed lively. So maybe it is that, rather than an enjoyable restaurant.

I went to the Oxo Tower with with my partner after the theatre recently. We were greeted and seated at the door by a gentleman called Hein. The food was excellent if overpriced, the view outstanding and the choice of wine from the Sommelier jaw dropping. However what made our evening was this guy Hein. I think he is one of the managers and he orchestrated the floor like he was leading a symphony. His recommendations for the food were excellent and his overall manner and helpfulness we'd rate as the best we have ever experienced. He was so calm and assured whilst making us laugh and comfortable. Top guy.In fact, it says alot about him that it was Hein we were talking about in the taxi home and not the £195 bill (3 courses and a bottle of red wine). We'll come again...once we've saved up!

we ate in the Brasserie as found the main restaurant too expensive. Absolutely amazing food, wine and service - great staff and very friendly. We were lucky enough too to witness the most amazing sunset over the City...great place for cocktails, a date, dinner/lunch with friends

Eating with the best London view

Oxo Tower Restaurant Bar and Brasserie is located on the eighth floor of the Oxo Tower and not surprisingly I discovered the best view of london I've ever had while eating. The modern cuisine food was also tasty and well presented, some portions could have been a bit more generous though. And that's not all: good, pleasant atmosphere and a duo playing Portuguese music. Summary: a place to have an unforgettable meal.

Modern Cuisine with a View

It was my husband's birthday, so a special dinner was in order. I wanted to take him somewhere romantic, somewhere with a view, somewhere to remember. So we went to OXO Tower Restaurant and it was all that!Ok, you may be surprised to read that we enjoyed our experience there, as I have also heard/read so many bad things about it. Maybe we got lucky, or maybe we weren't expecting the 'best meal ever', just a lovely evening, with fabulous views and good service.OXO Tower is located on South Bank - by the Thames. The restaurant is on the 8th floor of the tower and has fabulous views across London. There is also a cheaper Brasserie and a Bar on the same floor. We arrived early and opted to have a drink on the terrace in the restaurants private bar area. A martini for the birthday boy and a glass of champagne for me....well, we were celebrating! We toasted to our good fortune of living in such an amazing city as we enjoyed the view and the mild autumn evening. Then it was time to eat. We perused the menu for a while and had a discussion with the sommelier about the perfect wine for our meal. To start we shared the unusually presented Prawn Caesar Salad, and for main course we both had amazingly cooked Venison with delicious vegetables. For dessert we shared a Strawberry Souffle that just melted in your mouth. All the food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the view out the window of the sun setting over the city was spectacular.
