About

Paragon Precision

The manufacturing process starts with the cutting of metal, this is where considerable investment has been made in the latest Amada sheet metal processing equipment. Including, a high accuracy EML 4kw combined laser and high speed punching cell with 3 metre automatic sheet handling, and a Vipros punching cell, both with lights out operation.

This technology provides capabilities for in-cycle laser cutting, high speed punching, forming and threading, all in one set-up.

Design for Manufacture

Whether a complete design or just a concept sketch is available from the customer, the years of experience available within Paragon provides the capability to take design for manufacture that one step further. Resulting in what may appear to be a simple detail on the product, which in fact is difficult for the competition to re-create.

The utilisation of best in class design software allows a design to be produced, quickly and efficiently. With constant liaison with the customer the initial concept is agreed, approved and then converted into a complete working design with all the relevant information for efficient and cost effective manufacture.

Bending/Forming

Enclosures, equipment cases and special brackets are all produced utilising our Amada 7 Axis HFP press brake cell.

Amada claims " the HFP is the fastest machine on the market. A positioning speed of 1000mm/sec ensures that the back guage is always in position before the operator is ready to bend. With an approach speed of 200mm/sec and a bending speed of 20mm/sec the HFP is capable of bending more parts per hour than any other machine"

These machines provide the latest CNC technology for the accurate, repeatable bending of products, this combined with the experience of our operators ensures quality production of even the most complex design requirements.

Assembly/Finishing

The manufacture of sheet metal items forms only one part of the service offered by Paragon. Where required components can be MIG/TIG or robotically welded together to form an assembly and clinch-nuts, stand-offs, threaded inserts added.

The best in design, manufacture and assembly deserves the very best of finishing processes and an in-house 147 metre Nordson powder coating plant provides a highly durable, solvent free, environmentally friendly, painting solution, complete with 3 stage iron phosphate pre-treatment to ensure all components attain the correct preparation.

Powder application is achieved using one of two methods, for larger batches a fully automated, conveyorised automated booth is available. Smaller batches can be handled utilising a spray to waste plant with fast change facility reducing lead times.

A wide colour range and choices of textured and gloss finishes are available and with our years of powder coating experience the perfect finish is ensured.

Anodised, alochromed finishes and screen printing are available where required.

Metal Pressings

For large volume production of metal pressings, a range of mechanical and hydraulic presses are available. The prevalent of these are two panel presses with capacity of 250 and 160 Tonne and a working bed size of 2.5m x 1.5m and 2m x 1.25m respectively.

Paragon has gained a reputation as a leading designer and manufacturer of precision progression, press tools and metal pressings used in a wide variety of industries for the manufacture of parts for domestic and office appliances, automotive and avionics applications through to electronics and packaging solutions.

Several other smaller capacity presses are also available, for runs from blanks or coil, utilising customers own tooling, multi tool set-ups or in house designed and manufactured tooling to press special or dedicated features into client products.

Ancillary operations including the inserting of features such as, stand-offs, threaded clinch nuts and PC board fasteners are incorporated using two specialised 6 tonne Haeger presses, saving customers' time and cost by providing the complete product.
