A peaceful, informal holiday home on the edge of The Wash on north west Norfolk's 'Sunset Coast', The Patch is a few minutes walk from a quiet, undeveloped beach, and overlooks a small lake.
It's well away from streetlights and traffic, and is set in its own large, secluded garden with ample offroad parking.
At the heart of the house is a Victorian railway carriage! We believe this was set in place in the early 1930s. The carriage houses two bedrooms (twin and bunks) and the shower room/toilet. This is a useful feature for those who like to sleep downstairs close to a bathroom. It's worth noting though that there is only the one toilet, apart from a rather primitive outside loo in a shed! The two upstairs bedrooms are a double and a single, plus a folding bed if required. We can also supply a travel cot, stairgates and a high chair.
Available all year, there's a large wood burning stove in the spacious lounge/dining room, and electric heaters in all other rooms.
The kitchen is large and equipped with a full sized electric cooker plus all the other usual electrical items. Please note there is no dishwasher or washing machine.
The garden is very private, and there's a barbecue and plenty of garden furniture. There are several bikes in the garage, handy for exploring the local area.
Between about Easter and the end of October there's a well-stocked general store about five minutes walk away, plus a fish and chip shop a little further. Out of season the nearest facilities are in Snettisham village, about two miles inland.
Snettisham is a great base for exploring NW Norfolk. Attractions include the Royal Family's holiday home of Sandringham House, about six miles away. Then there's the atmospheric Castle Rising, on the way to the historic market town of King's Lynn (10 miles), and the cheerful seaside town of Hunstanton, about six miles in the opposite direction.
The Patch is on the very edge of the internationally renowned RSPB Snettisham reserve of The Wash, about 20 minutes walk.
Outside the main school holidays we offer reduced prices for couples or smaller groups, and short breaks. We welcome well-behaved dogs for no more than a week at a time (max.2). Please contact us if you have any further questions.
Snettisham is a great base
