I am a qualified, BACP. Registered Psychodynamic Counsellor. I currently have practices in Godstone and in the town centres of Coulsdon, and Redhill. I offer confidential long and short-term counselling and psychotherapy in a range of days and times to accommodate busy lives.

I Qualified as a Psychodynamic Counselling at the University of Surrey, and have been working in the local community for several years with individuals experiencing a wide range of difficulties. I am committed to ongoing professional development, adhere to BACP ethical guidelines and regularly complete further professional training.

I am experienced in working with Depression, Anxiety, Panic attacks, Panic disorder, Anxiety disorder, Low self esteem, Relationship issues, Bereavement, Post- natal depression, Loss, Separation, Divorce, Adoption, Addiction, Self-harm, Sexual abuse, Work related stress, OCD, anger issues.

Although I mainly work from a Psychodynamic perspective, I believe that we all have our own unique life experiences and difficulties as we enter therapy. With this in mind, I work using a range of models so that sessions are tailored to support you, the difficulties you are currently experiencing, enabling you to find a way to move forward.

About Therapy

I understand that taking the first step, looking for a counsellor, and making the initial contact is difficult, but by thinking about starting counselling you are making an important life decision to change the way you are feeling, thinking or behaving.

It is a commonly thought that if you are having counselling you must be experiencing a crisis, and although this is sometimes the case, people often embark upon this pathway because they want to make changes in their life or understand themselves better.

Sometimes we can not explain or understand why we are behaving in a certain way and these confusing feelings can make us feel isolated and unable to talk to those closest to us. Therapy offers a sensitive, confidential, non judgemental, safe space where you can be supported whilst you explore any difficulties you may be experiencing. A place where your thoughts and words will be treated with dignity and respect.

Psychodynamic therapy embraces the work of all analytical therapies. As we go through life, our experiences, and our feelings around them, shape the way we think, feel or behave. As we mature, these remain mainly unconscious, but often influence the way we behave today, in our life, work, and relationships. Our past affects our future and counselling can help us understand ourselves and the situations we are in better. Gaining some insight can be empowering, increase self esteem and give us the confidence needed to make the changes which can influence the direction and choices we make for our future.

Counselling provides an opportunity to meet each week and explore your difficulties and feelings. It is important that you find the right therapist, one that you are comfortable with, able to provide you with support and that understands how you are feeling. With this in mind, I offer a reduced cost 50 minute initial appointment session to allow you to ask any questions you might have, for us to get to know each other and see if counselling is right for you at this time.

FAQ

How much does each session cost?
The initial appointment session cost is £30.00. If you decide to start ongoing counselling, each session is £40.00, weekends £45.00. A limited number of sessions may be available at a concessional rate for those who feel that they may benefit from counselling, but for whom such fee levels would be genuinely beyond their means.

How long is each session?
The initial appointment is 1 hour and ongoing sessions are for 50 minutes. It is important you arrive on time and attend each session to ensure you gain the most from counselling and that you make steady progress towards your goals.

How long will it take?
I offer open-ended counselling which means there are no restrictions on the amount of sessions you have. Counselling can continue for as long as you feel you need to, you decide, but the time counselling takes depends on the difficulties you are experiencing and the therapeutic goals that you want to achieve. Short-term/problem focused counselling is available. The length of which can be discussed at your initial appointment.

Are my sessions Confidential?
Everything discussed with your counsellor is strictly confidential. There are some exceptions required by law, such as harm to yourself or others. These will be discussed at your initial appointment to make sure you are aware of these and are happy to continue.
