Petans Operate from two bases in Norfolk and Suffolk, England. We have for the last 35 years been a benchmark for professional safety and survival training for Oil and Gas personnel both offshore UK and worldwide.

Employing highly qualified personnel, Petans provide essential offshore oil and maritime industry accredited training courses in Survival, Firefighting, Helicopter Operations, Marine and Management of Safety.

Employing highly qualified personnel, Petans provides courses and training locations in Norfolk and Suffolk (UK) for Offshore Survival, Firefighting, Helicopter Operations, Marine and Management of Safety.

For offshore Oil and Gas Petans offer internationally recognised courses to OPITO standards, in BOSIET basic survival training, MIST, and FOET refresher. We also train firefighting, helicopter operations, maritime and safety.

For the Offshore wind industry we provide MCA maritime training for installers, and BWEA Basic, Working at heights, and marine transfer for Operations and Maintenance / Original equipment manufacturers.

For maritime businesses we train to MCA standards from all 4 basic courses, through to advanced firefighting.

The nuclear industry also uses our facilities at our Norfolk base to train their fire teams. Our facilities are so well regarded that even the Fire Services also come to Petans for backdraught and BA training.

For construction industries - City and Guilds confined space safety for maintenance staff.

Petans are a registered charity, meaning training is always provided at best cost and we offer the Petans Bursary, grants of up to £250 to qualifying delegates. Ask for details.

Travel and Accommodation

The majority of training courses are run from our Norwich site but our marine courses, some 3rd party and bespoke courses (as indicated on the course details) are held on the open water of Oulton Broad and Lake Lothing near Lowestoft in North Suffolk.

Please be sure to confirm at which location your training will take place and please book your accommodation near to the site at which your course is planned in advance.

Both sites are only 2 hours from London and 90 minutes from Stansted Airport.

The Norwich site is only 2 miles from Norwich International Airport which has daily flights from Amsterdam, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Manchester click here for details www.norwichairport.co.uk/scheduled-flights.asp. We are approximately 5 miles from Norwich city center and Norwich train/bus stations. There are plenty of accommodation options near the airport and in Norwich. But there is no public transport to the Petans Norwich site.

Oulton Broad site is 25 miles from Norwich and is 2 miles from Lowestoft. This is about 45 minutes by car from our Norwich site but can also be reached by train from Norwich train station via Lowestoft but this can take between 60 to 90 minutes depending on the connections and time of day. There are a range of hotels and bed and breakfast options within easy walk at Oulton Broad.

Training courses

We provide nationally and internationally recognised and approved emergency response training, as well as specifying courses to meet company particular training needs.

Petans is a Limited Company but has Registered Charity Status (Charity No 2090458) and so we reinvest all surplus funds into enhancing our sites, facilities and offering.

Examples of this enhancement are the focus we are placing on collaborative working where others use the Petans facilities, so enhancing the East Anglia regions training.

In addition our charitable status means we offer access to basic training for those in financial need through our Petans Bursary, offering local people assistance to gain the qualifications needed to work in the industries we serve.

Petans has two sites, the main centre at Norwich and a second at Oulton Broad near Lowestoft. At both we provide dedicated, highly trained instructors and trainers delivering courses from some of the best facilities available anywhere in Europe.
