Poultec are an independent training provider offering apprenticeships and short courses in areas such as Agriculture, Food Manufacturing, Butchery, Management, Customer Service, Business Administration, Hospitality and Catering, ICT, ESOL and Skills for Life.

Poultec is based at South Green Park which has also been developed as a training and conference centre which houses training suites, conference rooms, IT suites and a fully licensed restaurant . The original centre was opened in 2003 and has proved very popular

About us

Poultec Training was established in 1997 by Edward Bales to offer work-based training and consultancy to the Poultry industry on a national scale. Edward travelled the country delivering NVQ training and courses such as Bird Welfare and Biosecurity to major poultry businesses.

Since 1997 Poultec has grown and diversified into a wide range of training areas. Originally they concentrated on the agricultural poultry sector and with expansion in mind brought in Neale McArdle as Training Director. They have continued to expand this successful business model into other sectors including Retail and Customer Service, Hospitality and Catering, Business Administration, Management, Basic Skills, Information Technology and Butchery.

Poultec is based at South Green Park which has also been developed as a training and conference centre which houses training suites, conference rooms, IT suites and a fully licensed restaurant . The original centre was opened in 2003 and has proved very popular with both local businesses and public sector organisations that regularly use the facilities. The second building – the Norfolk Food Centre of Excellence was opened in 2007 which as well as having additional training rooms houses the Butchery training suite, Product Development kitchen and industry resource library.

Whilst NVQ's are a large part of Poultec's business, they are only one part of the diverse range of training packages that they offer. NVQ's act as a way of demonstrating and verifying an individual's competence and knowledge of the job that they are undertaking and can help to develop an individuals confidence and skills in the workplace. Poultec has always been proud of the way they deliver their NVQ's which involves regular visits, the use of technical equipment and tailored assessment and learner support material. To complement the NVQ's Poultec offers a wide range of short courses which are aimed at increasing and refreshing learners knowledge in subjects such as Poultry Welfare, Hygiene and Biosecurity, Health and Safety, Manual Handling, COSHH, Environmental Awareness and Food Safety. Poultec have also developed a range of leadership and management courses and are the approved Sage Accountancy Training Centre for the East of England.

Poultec have also been offering a range of Apprenticeship programmes for around 10 years. These programmes are an excellent way to develop people of all age groups and give them the foundations to move on up in industry to create a successful career.

Poultec holds the title of National Skills Academy Champion for Meat and Poultry which is an excellent recognition of the high standard of specialist training offered.

Poultec holds the TQS (Training Quality Standard), Sponsored by the Skills Funding Agency. The Training Quality Standard is an assessment framework, focusing on employer engagement, designed to recognise and celebrate the best organisations delivering training and development solutions. This accolade was endorsed by Poultec's learners when Poultec achieved either outstanding or good in all performance indicators during the Framework for Excellence assessment, which is based on learner views, success rates and finance.

Poultec Training has established a reputation for high quality industry specific training on a regional and national basis. This has only been possible by having high calibre, knowledgeable staff and excellent resources. Poultec remains competitive by ensuring that they not only meet but exceed the expectations of the companies that they work with.
