You used to be so much better!
We have had a few fantastic meals here but on the past 2 occasions it has just been awful. On our most recent visit our starters were great. I couldn't tell you about the main course as we really couldn't wait that long to find out what they were like. We also couldn't find our waitress to ask her how long it was going to be. Such a shame that this once excellent restaurant has done such a U turn.

disappointed
I don't know why we went again after having poor service on a previous visit. Last year we had had a great meal there on a number of occasions and we were hoping last time was an unfortunate blip. However, we had a really disappointing experience today and made worse by the fact we had taken guests telling them how good the food was. We ordered for my son as soon as we arrived as he was hungry and then ordered for ourselves about 10 mins later, skipping starters just in case the service was bad again. We were given some bread but after 45 minutes and no sign of the food, we finally managed to catch the attention of the waitress. She then said she had forgotten to order my son's meal (and had not even made a note of what it was). We finally got our meal after another 10 mins and I can definitely say it was not worth the wait. I had the roast lamb...that looked like it had been hacked to pieces and was cold, as were the potatoes and watery vegetables. Our plates were pushed around the bread and used side plates as opposed to these being cleared. Empty glasses weren't cleared either and condensation from the glasses was forming pools all over the table as there were no beer mats. Nobody enjoyed their meal which was extra disappointing given the price and the wait. Two tables either side of us had arrived before us and were only just receiving their starters! We did complain but the manager wasn't very interested. We will definitely not be going back and will be going to The Gate in future as have never had a bad experience there. A shame we didn't go there this time.
