We appreciate your interest in Scruffy Pups Training School. The Professional Groomer is in great demand in this country due to the ever increasing number of dogs as our best friends.

On completion of this course you have the opportunity to start your own profitable pet grooming business and enjoy being your own boss. Alternatively you could find employment in a grooming salon, vets, pet shop, kennels and much more.



It is imperative before commencing on this exciting journey that you obtain the best possible training available. Suddenly there has been many so called teachers springing up willing to show you this profession.... Please beware. A large number of our past students have gone on to run very successful and profitable businesses and they will be happy to speak to you by arrangement so you can confirm this with them.

All of our training is to City & Guilds level, but please be aware that it is not recommended that you apply to do your City & Guilds examination (which is the ONLY recognised qualification in dog grooming) until you have had at least 18 months working in the industry. We can supply all of the information regarding this exam which is run through the Pet Care Trust as we are a member.

Under expert guidance from our experienced tutor, you can explore the various skills required for grooming dogs; whether for a future professional career or just simply for the pleasure and satisfaction of preparing and caring for your own pet.

Shaun Leach, our main tutor, has been a dog groomer for over 20 years and runs a very busy grooming parlour along with his Partner, Shane Boniface. He has also shown Poodles for himself for this period and other breeds for other people. Shaun holds a City & Guilds Advanced grooming diploma 7750 and is working towards the City & Guilds Teacher Training Diploma. He is also a member of the Pet Care Trust and the British Grooming Association. Previously Shaun has also taught Intermediate and Advanced grooming at Houghall College in Durham but resigned as he felt the need to concentrate wholly on the increasingly popular training courses held at Scruffy Pups. We are getting students from all over the U.K and abroad, as our reputation grows. Since opening Scruffy Pups five years ago, the customer base has increased ten-fold, with customers travelling for miles to get their dog groomed, on average there are twelve new customers every week, so there is virtually every breed of dog through the door to practice on.
