Good Food in comfortable surroundings, what more could you ask for? I thought there was an excellent choice on the menu and it was nice and quiet when I was there on a weekday lunchtime.

This is a great place if you like generous helpings of staple food in a pleasant atmosphere. It is a lot bigger than it look from outside, with various open-plan rooms shooting off from the bar area. The ceilings are high and arched and have exposed beams, all of which makes this establishment feel spacious and airy. Apparently the pub was a run-down old farmhouse about 20 years ago but it has been expertly renovated and improved. There's a good selection of food, including traditional roasts. When I went, I opted for a roast beef dinner. It was reasonably priced at around £7 and didn't disappoint. My plate contained a good amount of roast beef and yorkshire pudding only, with the potatoes and vegetables in a separate dish. I left feeling more than satisfied. Recommended

Delicious Food and Lots of It!

The Shiremoor Farm is very popular and definately one of the best choices of pub food in the area. The car park is big, although on weekends (Sundays especially) it can be very difficult to get a parking space. The decor is cosy (plenty of wooden beams and fires!) and the staff are very efficient and polite. It is a popular location for work colleagues to meet after a day in the offices which are located close to the pub.The food is superb in my opinion. The only downfall would be, like most pubs healthy options are limited (most meals are accompanied with chips). There is normally a good few vegetarian choices on the menus. On Sundays, the highlight of the roasts are HUGE Yorkshire Puddings! There is normally a chicken option available too. There is a great range of puddings and I would recommend the good old banana split!Outside, there is heat lamps on the seating area on the patio. There are no facilities to entertain children here and no pool tables!!

Platefuls!

This is a lovely place to go with family and/or friends. The restaurant is a rustic looking building and once inside, there seem to be several large open-plan areas set out from the centre bar with lots of little nooks and crannies to sit yourself. I don't think you can reserve tables and it is very popular, but we've always managed to get a table. The menu is written on large blackboards situated throughout the restaurant and you order at the bar. The menu is varied and includes meat, seafood and vegetarian choices. The sizzling sweet and sour chicken is delicious. The servings are HUGE and for that reason I've never tackled the desserts! There is a good selection of wines and beer. Can't wait for my next visit.
